Good campaign for debo in Assam..

Judgment day at last! And the moment of retribution! Pleasure is mine and probably of agonized 'man' kind that has seen spurns and humiliation in college corridors, office cubicles, neighborhood streets and so on.

Brothers! When was the last time did we ever have the collective destinies of so many gorgeous damsels in your hands? Well! Our finger tips to be precise... I am talking about this "Banungi Main Miss India contest'. Sarong clad leggy contestants imploring us for our one SMS vote that will change their destinies forever. Take that!

Cut to Assam. There is war out here. A war of SMSs. It is this reality TV show called Sa Re Ga Ma that's some folks are going gaga about.

If you know about this show then you will know about Assam's Debojit; the sole finalist from the Assam. I must admit the guy sings well (The few episodes I watched). He has triggered a SMS movement in his home state. His fans have held bike rallies to garner votes for him, carried out newspaper campaigns in his support, and posing as dreaded ULFA threatened to bomb the show's organizers'.

Surprise.... Surprise! Look who is also pushing for Debojit's cause in Assam!- the good old mobile phone companies. My service provider routinely urges me to register my SMS vote for Assam's Debojit. Not to be outdone another company has put up huge billboards on city streets asking subscribers to vote for Debojit... through SMSs obviously.

SMS.. Yes you got it right. Debojit alone received lakhs of sms votes since the contest began. Just equate that number with the cost of each sms, the figures would be astounding and no one's complaining. Its all for a cause they tell me. I don't mean to sermonize but the money can be put to a better use.. really....
