I grew up in the US and all of my friends are white americans. i agree that the culture is different but there are lots of similarities too. they do value marriage and family and relationship. It's the hollywood and media that have over rated the physical relationship and "love" in the minds of the youth. The thing with Western culture is that is it more individualistic whereas Asian and Indian culture is more collectivist.

whatever they show in American telly and movies is certainly not reflective of the culture. Same way i feel that whatever they show in Indian telly and movies is certainly not reflective of Indian culture.
I don't live in india but i do know almost everything about indian culture and values. Judging from that, even the show of indian culture in dmg seems bizarre to me. It is showing that "love" is all that matters in the lives of people and that they forget their profession,their duties, their family and everyone because they are so deep down in to mourning their eternally unsorted personal lives!
Now that is definitely not reflective of the culture, is it?!

I don't mean to offend anyone....just posing my pov. If you feel that i offended you then I apologize.
All i want to say is that stereotyping is what the telly and movies do. the real side to a culture or society is always the real people.😃

hahah i am surprized dat u thought i wud be offended ven i was so amazed at ur posting. i agree wit u, u do have som gr8 points especially da part where u said dat indian culture dont show that luv is everythin dat u forget ur job, family, etc. so true. media, movies, tv, does impact.

yaaa seriously, even i live in US. few days back we all girls we're like suiting up for PE and one of the girl start talkin randomly about boyfriends. ANd she was takin a kinda poll, like how many girls had already have there first kiss. EXCEPT ME EVERYSINGLE GIRL OVERTHERE ALREADY HAD ONE. and they all were like, seriously u r in high school and u didn't have ur first kiss. I WAS LIKE GO TO HELL, IF UR IN HIGH SCHOOL THAT DOESN'T MEAN U SHOULD HAVE UR FIRST KISS. it"S damn hard for indians to matchup there mentality

well, physicality is an aspect of love....whether u sleep before marriage or not, u'll always feel SEXUAL ATTRACTION towards the one u love.

and i agree with you thats sleeping without emotions is animal-like, and i DONT agree to that, but its ALSO TRUE that LOVE begets LUST.😊

@jasmine---I am really confounded by ur reasoning..........Physical feelings are not highlited in India but dis surely does not mean dat we are "pretending" to be good.What DMG shows is way beyond reality so u really cannot use analogies from DMG to desctibe dat "social pressure" thing!!!! We cannot judge American culture by movies like American Pie and all,can we????Dey are works of fiction and entertainment and as such disconnected from real life!!!!Same thing wid DMG.

@TM--Methinks physicality is an important aspect of love and widout dat no relationship can work.............I am not saying dat it is the 'only' aspect of love.I am just saying,dat sexual attraction is what develops love and makes the relationship more stronger.So to judge American culture by dat aspect wud be a bit harsh to dem!!!!
