I am guessing this will be my last post on this forum if the rumors about SR are true. So please bear with me for my last rant, unless of course AR reunite. lol.
I just basically wanted to tell everyone what DMG meant for me and what the essence of DMG USED to be before the whole terrorist attack(and a little after the new gang came in).
For me, it was youth show, progressing from the old societal norms and in a way freeing men and women both from the societal bonds. It was a fun show, where after a long day's work i used to come just have fun watching the gang and just enjoy instead of having to FIGHT for my favorite pair to be together, or even JUSTIFY why they should be together which doesn't even make sense since ever since DMG started it has ALWAYS been Armaan and Ridhima even though new characters came in and TRIED to be a third angle but it ALWAYS ended with Armaan and Ridhima, no matter what problems came in.
Now, going back to the societal bonds, here is the reason why i think it WAS PROGRESSING(but not anymore):
1) Anjali and Ridhima: The way they were brought up, both of them were different but had the core indian values in them. On one hand we had ridhima who wore Indian clothes, represented indian values, basically a strong girl, independent, and yet had our indian values in her. On the other hand we had anjali, who appeared to be all modern/western, but at the end of the day, she had her limits, morals, and everything which a good sister/daughter/friend has. I mean after ridhima's adoption came out, anjali could've been mean and rude to her, but no, she always stuck with her. Anjali and ridhima both represented TODAY'S WOMEN, who have values, are traditional, yet are moving forward and showing STRONG, INDEPENDENT, TRADITIONAL, AND CULTURAL WOMEN.
2) Rahul and Muskaan: Once again, they were both phenomenal, they both didn't confess their feelings for each other till much later, but at the same time, they were the first ones to help each other. When Rahul and Muskaan lived together(fake marriage), it wasn't shown as something WRONG or even TABOO, like in the olden days. They showed it aesthetically, and showed that even if a girl or a guy is under parental pressure, they DON'T take wrong steps, but find a way to solve a problem without comprising our values and traditions. I mean how many times could they have gone the wrong way but they didn't because at the end of the day they had morals, no matter how "Modern or western" it looks. Even after they had their One-night-stand, they weren't FORCED to get married, or were even pressurized, because in today's world, we know we can make our own choices and marriage isn't something that is the answer to everything. Again, it wasn't done in a cheap way, it was showed in a mature way, which made it even more beautiful. It's not like their ONS was hidden from their friends, but that was the beauty of it, their friends supported them in whatever decision they took, they helped them whenever it was necessary but let them make it their own choices. That's what DMG MEANT, A FORWARD THINKING SHOW WHICH SHOWED THAT SOMETIMES WE CAN MAKE INDEPENDENT CHOICES WITHOUT BEING BOUND BY THE SOCIETAL NORMS. Again, as viewers we will love it if Rahul and muskaan were together forever, but one of the annoying things about DMG is they didn't get their proper ending.
3) Abhi and Nikki: With Abhi being married, no big fuss was made into how nikki was going to be married to a divorcee, or fell in love with a married women, you know the usual taboos, but this was shown in a logical way. They always did what their culture and values allowed them to, but also didn't have to compromise in the name of societal pressures or give up each other just because it would be a taboo.
I could go on and on about the other examples, these three were the biggest examples, but what i am trying to show is, DMG HAS ALWAYS BEEN SOMETHING WHICH SHOWED TODAY'S YOUTH THAT WE CAN MAKE OUR OWN CHOICES, that the olden days thinking is not necessarily a bondage that is forced upon us. It showed that we can make our own choices AND STILL HAVE INDIAN VALUES.
But now what they are showing(and of course some members on the forum), that marriage is the end of the world, that once you are married either you die with the same person or you aren't allowed to have a RESPECTABLE position in society, or that if for some reason you get divorced it would be a taboo and you lose all your values and basically it's the end of your world.
What happened to the YOUTH show? What happened to the show where we were moving FORWARD? Where it was showed that we can be modern yet traditional?
Why oh why in the name of marriage you are ruining all the years of message you have given to the youth? I mean if you want to show Sid-ridhima as a pair, can you please do it in a way where it doesn't seem like marriage is a bondage that once happens is basically the end of your life? As it is, more and more youngsters are losing faith in the institution of marriage, and we see something like this on tv and see how some people say once you are married you just have to be with your husband and you can't have anything else, all the faith in marriage just evaporates.
It's my humble request to the creatives, please don't take this show from the youth and make it a show where once married you aren't even allowed to consider the possibility that your husband is your LAST CHOICE or it's death.
For me, at least the essence of DMG is lost, the youthful, fun, charming show which used to captivate me. By showing what they are showing now, it makes me lose faith in our cultural values and i don't want that.
If you want Sid and ridhima together PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE show something other than the whole "i am married to you, so i am sticking with you" crap. Be creative and show something which makes DMG what it is a YOUTH SHOW and NOT a saas bahu show. And also, while you are at it, please show Armaan HAPPY and bring the life back in Sid, don't make those sad, who want to see those two men sad, seriously?
Please don't make this post into a AR and SR debate, this post is about DMG not about any individual pair.
