It is true that Bappida did turn out some good tunes but he lifted tunes on a mass scale & left people like RD jobless with his gizmo & beat effect.

I would like to agree with you... but i think our music industry should have all types of music... where we have ID producing the classical music, we shld also have someone else producing the contemporary and not so classical music... ofcourse ppl like HR manage to churn out that type of music, but it is not of good quality... i think it is better if we have more variety... again thats just my opinion 😊

Aadesh Srivastava also uses folk and semi-classical tunes once in a while..
hori khele, Rang dini, tujh sang bandhi dor, chhodo mori baiyyan....for example.

thanku Sinhaji for the post.I always wondered inspite of his command on both styles of Indian Classical music, why Shankar hasnt really given a pure classical tune till date...that may be coz none of the films they do have a scope to do so....all of them are young love stories and with the kind of film makers we cannot expect much more...even his albums havent had a distimct classical number(he cud have experimented there)... but I feel lot of the chorus or plain voices he uses in songs (aalaaps) are very Carnatic based... Shankar Mahadevan is sought after to sing lot of classical based tunes down South though!

yes I know he is quite popularl, he might better cut a private album full of semiclassical singing.
