Actor Govinda has refuted rumours that he is making a deliberate attempt to come out of the comedy mould by taking on serious roles. "It is a misconception fuelled by reports in certain sections of the media. Comedy has always been my forte and will continue to be one," Govinda revealed.

He has also denied having signed award-winning director Ujwal Chatterjee's RANGMANCH. "I am still deliberating on the script of the film after which I will take a decision. Some over zealous media people went and wrote that I have already signed the film," he says.

The film will see him play the role of a mime artiste who can mimic everyone. However Govinda who has lately chosen to become very discreet about the various characters he is essaying, is irked by the fact that the story has already been leaked out in the media. "It is like killing the curiosity for the film even before it is out. I have come to believe that it is very important to keep the surprise element in the character you are playing till the release of the film," he says.

He also reveals that he has become very particular about choosing diverse roles in the films that he is doing. "I am signing only those films that excite me in terms of acting. If people think that I am in a mad hurry to sign films, that's not true. I have three very good films under production and all of them have very challenging roles for me," he reveals.

One of them is Nikhil Advani's SALAAM-E-ISHQ in which he has been paired opposite South African model turned actress, Sharon Asra, the second one is Priyadarshan's film in which he will be seen co-starring with Akshay Kumar and the third film is Salman Khan's home-production, PARTNER, being directed by David Dhawan in which he will co-star with Salman Khan. "It is the unique combinations and storylines of these films that make them very interesting projects. Besides the directors are the best names to work with. Nikhil is a fantastic director and SALAAM-E-ISHQ will be something to watch out for in terms of human emotions. Priyadarshan is a genius in his own right and I am looking forward to working with him. As for David it's a great feeling working with him again after all this time. He has an inherent penchant for comedy," Govinda reveals.

After he has finished shooting for the above films, Govinda will start shooting for Aparna Sen's JEWELLERY BOX in October this year, in which he plays the role of a laidback zamindar. "It is another interesting film that I am excited about," he says.

If anything, he has resolved that he will not produce a film either now or in the near future. "There is no question of producing a film at all after the huge losses that I incurred in my last production SUKKH. I am not in a financial position to risk production at least for the next few years. Besides, I am wary of the experience," he says
