Actually I tried to find pinnacle video transfer after prabha mentioned to me but its very hard to find it in india. Even if you buy online its very rarely available.
You can also try a digital video recorder. It gives excellent dvd quality recorded content which you can easily transfer to your pc or any external hardrive or burn it directly on a dvd!! I have one and its excellent!! It gives an awesome resolution of 768x576 pixels for tatasky and records in the standard dvd format. If you have hd content then it can directly record on a blu ray in 1024x720 pixels.
(Note: tata sky cannot be recorded in hd)
this is what I have :

@visrom the dvr has av input sockets i.e red and white for audio and yellow for the video. This is the composite video input. Incase you have tatasky or airtel you might see that the set top box has these 3 wires - red, white and yellow. These are attached to the tv's av input. There is also tv's av output with 3 sockets on your television set. You have to connect another 3 wires fom the tv's output to the device's input. then just place a blank dvd-r or a dvd-rw and press record.
All your content will be transferred on the blank dvd.

If you wish to transfer it to your hardrive for better storage just transfer from the dvd to pc. If you use dvd-rw you can erase it and record on it again. Anyways I hope it wasn't confusing. 😆

If you have any problems then just ask me.👍🏼

@prabha the model name is VRD-MC6. Its a sony product.
It can record in hd ie 1024x720. So excellent quality. But if you wish to play back the hd recorded content then your pc's processor needs to be powerful.
Whatever tatasky broadcasts in its original resolution, you get the same.
tatasky broadcasts in 720x576 pixels with mpeg 2 video compression nd ac3 audio. You get the same or better quality 👍🏼 I record in 768x576 pixels. But be careful about transferring files to your hardisk, because of extreme high quality file size is pretty big.

well ya the price is the major problem, like they say quality doesn't come cheap.Anyways pinnacle video transfer is equally costly. Though in the US you can get it for 100 dollars, in India you can't get it less than 9000 rupees.

I Prefer Internal TV tuner card, any Tv tuner card works as long it has Composite video input.
Most of them have Composite video input and s-video input.

Cost is around Rs. 1500 (In Goa, which means in other states it will be cheaper).

Quality is good 720 X 576
