Imagine turning off its Jyoti? - Article

Sphere Origins Jyoti has been critically acclaimed but, as it often happens with good shows, low TRPs do them in.

Imagine is in revamp mode as they are about to welcome a plethora of new shows post Indian Premier League. Expectedly, few existing shows will have to make way for the new ones. It's widely buzzed that Sphere Origins' Jyoti is among the shows that Imagine TV will discontinue with.

Varun Khandelwal, who plays the character of Deepu, says, "Well, I've been hearing these rumours since November. So, far we haven't received any communication from the channel or the production house. If you look at the ratings, we aren't far behind the channel's top shows. So, I hope this isn't true."

Lead actress Sneha Wagh remained unavailable for comment. Producer Sunjoy Waddhwa too didn't respond to our text message.

Post IPL, Imagine TV will launch a slew of shows. UTV and Balaji Telefilms are said to have signed a show each with the channel. The Balaji show could probably replace Jyoti.

TRPs are never a fair indication of show's quality, thus we hope that Jyoti continues to brighten our lives.

• Kashi is good if one looks to such shows as message platforms. While this will be liked by some, those who look @ these programs as just entertainment and nothing else are not likely to be attracted to being lectured by the creators of this show
• Jamuniya is promising, but has been really gloomy so far
• PKCM has really turned sour ever since Kanchan's marriage, and there is little to be said for it. My top candidate for being yanked
• DHKJ is my other candidate for being yanked. I hate the message - that a parent can force her daughters to marry losers of her choice, and if one of them accidentally clicks, she deserves praise for it? Please, put this show @ 2:00pm and 2:00am, if it has to keep running.
• Devi - am not really getting the point of this show, other than a bunch of superstitious losers run amuck
• Bandini - how much longer are they going to drag it, and do we really have to put up w/ Santo now making her other sister's life miserable?
