glad you liked that. i'd decided very early on that heer was going to remain a maan. but i wanted some prem to be in her name too. and this is what came out. heer prem maan. she's gonna have that in her passport. i'm glad prem is gonna approve. gayatri will shake her head at these new-fangled notions but she will approve too. harman will approve. nandini will think it's terribly romantic. chloe will sniff with disdain. suni will sniff with tears ('cause she is also quite mushy under that witty, cynical exterior -- i'm thinking of getting her and preet involved even though she is older to him. i think he needs someone older, no?). and preet will not care as long as prem and heer are together. 😆

nitya's right -- there was a reference that was made in *lemme check...* the end of chapter 67. gayatri tells preet that love has to last to be meaningful. it had to last beyond the first fires of passion. *argh! reading that now it seems kinda corny! argh!* and once the flame-up is done, people need to figure if all they have left is smoke from the ashes -- no real connection -- or if there's a diamond -- the prem-heer-are-one kinda connection. 😆

i was gonna call the chapter ''a diamond in the ashes''. but my mom's friends are here and they were playing some song that was haunting my head, which had the lines:

''ashes and diamonds,
foe and friends,
we were all equal
in the end.''

that was about a war, i think. but when i wrote it, the music in the background just made my fingers type "ashes and diamonds". who knows?

if you (and nitya) think i should, i will go back to the one that i thought up originally. truly. 😃 what do you think -- should i?

Sometimes I wonder even though your heart knows you belong to another person, questions creep in at the most unusual times. What better than a kiss to show that Prem owns Heer. With these two, just a look or an act is sufficient to show how much they mean to each other. I loved the way Heer signs the painting and how Prem totally gets primal after that.

ya.. i think he was just waiting for her permission to do that. 😆 isn't that funny? prem politely waiting for permission to turn primal?

and i like that sense of contradiction in prem. and heer, actually. have loved it from the very start. how they are two such quiet, controlled, civilised people -- for the rest of the world. but with each other? they could be total animals, all pushy and grabby and physical.

sometimes? i think that the best episode ever in the show was their most painful one -- when prem turned animal (with jealousy) on heer. i can't think about it without cringing. and i am not sure i would ever forgive him that loss of control. but man, does it fit with the characterisation of the two! first he turns animal. and then, she throws propriety to the winds and turns animal on him right back. seriously! phew!

Oh, these two are creatures that define what love means. And there are several facets to love.

totally. totally. totally!

often, i think that the greatest puzzle on earth is how how a hindi-tv serial managed to create such a superlative pair of lovers. i am seriously stuck for want of an explanation. 'cause the more i think 'bout 'em, the more i think that prem and heer are the most magnificent lovers i have ever seen in a story.
