Nishank Verma opens up about playing Kushal in Haale Dil

Actor Nishank Verma, who is currently seen as Kushal in Haale Dil, a Dreamiyata Drama production, recently shared his experience of preparing for the complex role. According to him, the biggest challenge was not just learning lines or rehearsing, but truly understanding the emotional depth and dissatisfaction that define his character.

Nishank explained that Kushal is a well-intentioned man with a decent life, yet he struggles with a sense of emptiness. His current reality does not match the future he once envisioned for himself. “The preparation was mostly emotional,” Nishank said. “I had to dig into the layers of the character—his disappointments, his search for purpose, and the heaviness that comes with dissatisfaction. Bringing all of that into my body language and overall demeanor was my main focus. A large part of my preparation was creating the mental makeup of the character.”

The actor also shared that rehearsals were slightly challenging because the show was not filmed in a linear sequence. This required him to constantly shift between different emotional states of the character. Despite this, Nishank made sure to stay connected to Kushal’s core struggles while performing each scene.

Whenever he feels that reassurance that he is enough and not a failure, those moments touched me deeply as an actor,” Nishank said.

Talking about what makes Haale Dil unique, Nishank pointed out that the show’s biggest strength is its honesty. He believes the storytelling is soft, heartfelt, and non-judgmental, which allows the audience to connect with the characters on a personal level. “It doesn’t judge its characters, and that’s rare for a story like this. Instead, it shows them with empathy, which makes the connections between them even more touching and relatable,” he explained.
