FIRM FRIENDS
In the face of cutthroat competition, friends are hard to come by. But these television stars have found each other.
RESHMA S KULKARNI
TISCA CHOPRA-SHWETA KWAATRA
Where did they meet? (Tisca) On the sets of Star Plus' Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. We were sharing a vanity van. Initially, since both of us are the quiet, reserved sorts, the conversation used to be limited to a hi and bye, but one day I noticed a great make-up product in Shweta's case and inquired about it.
Some good or bad incident that they remember:
Since we are not the quarrelsome sorts, we have never bickered. We hang out with our hubbies very often and everytime, we have a blast! Of course, we started taking along the hubbies after a long time of going out on our own, since they began complaining that it was almost as if we were dating each other! What makes them click? Both of us are quite alike.
MONA SINGH-GAURAV GERA
Where did they meet? (Gaurav) We met during the auditions for Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin and were almost repulsed with each other!
Some good or bad incident that they remember:
(Mona) That was when I was nominated for my first award for Jassi... and was feeling very nervous. Gaurav and I had gone, and I was so nervous that I was shivering! But all through, Gaurav kept encouraging me saying, 'Tune apni speech toh yaad ki hai naa?' and such things.
On the flip side, rumours about us having an affair on the sly is an unpleasant memory. What makes them click? He's my reality check and I rely on him completely for advice.
MOULLI GANGULY-SMITA BANSAL
Where did they meet? In between shoots, more pointedly, when Moulli was doing advertisements and Smita was into serials. Moulli says, "I was against doing serials and it was only on meeting Smita on and off that she managed to convince me that doing serials was not such a bad option."
Some good or bad incident that they remember:
Moulli remembers the time when Smita was taking her to meet her then-fiance Ankush for the first time. "All the way she kept telling me, don't talk too much, don't ask him many questions and so on. All her instructions scared me so much that when I ultimately met Ankush, all I could manage to say was a yes or no!" she says. What makes them click? (Mouli) It's strange but we are as different as chalk and cheese. We both feel that our level of understanding or connectivity we share is what makes our friendship so strong.
RAKSHANDA KHAN-APURVA AGNIHOTRI
Where did they meet? (Rakshanda) We met on the sets of Jassi…. and the first encounter was a very hilarious one. Our first sequence together was a romantic one, wherein Apu had to pull me towards him. Both of us were extremely nervous and somehow canned the shots, but Apu was so worried about whether he had pulled me too hard, he kept following me saying sorry right upto my make-up room.
Some good or bad incident that they remember:
We had a blast when Shilpa and Apu were dating each other, rather I had a blast while bringing them together. All the white lies I had to tell them to bring them together someplace! What makes their relation click? The fact that Apu is a very simple and humble human being with no hang-ups. But what I really hate about Apu is that he never takes my calls unless I call him from Shilpa's phone!" Rakshanda cribs good-naturedly.
