Recording of Preity's evidence in Salman-Ash case deferred

A local court today adjourned till June 13, the recording of evidence of Bollywood actor Preity Zinta in the defamation case filed against a leading tabloid by her for publishing a text of telephonic conversation between actors Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan, that allegedly had sexual overtones in which Salman referred Preity's name.
Zinta's advocate Sandeep Kapoor said the metropolitan court at Girgaon in South Mumbai today admitted the matter and adjourned till June 13 the hearing on recording of evidence and her plea for exemption from physical appearance.

Zinta had filed a criminal defamation case, based on a transcript of alleged conversation--supposedly between Salman and Aishwarya Rai--in which Salman referred to his relationship with Preity.

In her petition, Preity mentioned that besides being a film star, she was somebody's daughter, sister and living in this society.

Media could not overrule all that and say that a film star was a public property.

She further said she had always been honest and had a lot of self-respect and that is why she was fighting to clear her name.

Earlier, after the tapes came to limelight, they were sent for testing in a forensic laboratory which had reported that tapes were not authentic and the voices of persons in the tape did not match with those of Aishwarya and Salman.
