A lot of people, particularly in the above category, realize this, and adapt out their kids. This is not b'cos they don't love them, but precisely b'cos they do, that they are willing to give them to a normal family rather than cling on to them just for their own happiness. So if Sushma does it, she may be temporarily hurt, but she's not likely to feel guilty. And whenever she does get a new hubby and gets pregnant again, that pain will be past her.

I don't want to argue this too much because I did in a a previous thread - but adoption is not all it's cracked out to be. I know of many many many instances where the adoptee was scarred by the experience.
1. There is no assurance that the new family that you place your child with is a good family - some instances I know, the child ended up suffering.
2. Even when the child is well taken care of, in the end when the child grows us, the child is left wondering why his/her parent adopted her out. This can in some cases cause psychological damages.
So, although adoption is okay in some instances for financial purposes, but emotionally and psychologically it may not be the best option for the child or the mother.

There are institutions which check the genuinety of the adopting parents. I would say it is best to give the child for adoption rather than put the child to go through trauma keeping it with self. This is no easy decision for sushma but could be the right one. Sushma's bhabhi questions Deepu on helping Sushma on a simple thing like auto fare. Imagine what will go through if he has to help the child upbringing.
Either she becomes strong like Jyoti or gives the child in adoption are the options she has.

^^^^ Thanks for pointing out the institutions that check on the genuineness of adapting parents. Usually, parents who want to adapt go thru these intermediaries, and parents who want to adapt out their kids use them as well.

She should do both. She needs to become strong and independent like Jyoti, regardless of whether or not she ever had a baby. She should adapt out her baby b'cos such a baby deserves a family environment, even if it happened to be created by the likes of Brij. It's not going to get a healthy one if mom's support is not enough, and it has to also depend on Uncle Deepu, Aunt Jyoti and others. So adaption is the best way out. By all means, verify the authenticity of this lady, if one must. (In fact, I'd argue that this is even a good option for Jyoti, given that she and Pankaj are forever history, and even if he repents, I don't want him to get back her kid).

As for Sushma herself, once the baby is adapted out, she should, after completing her studies (I'd think she'd need to study some more, not just stop @ 12th, but she can't keep depending on Jyoti or Deepu. Hopefully, she gets another scholarship to do her bachelors) get a job whereby she is self-sufficient.
