SUSHMA & POONAM: who's more mature? - Page 3

I wonder whether Poonam would have been allowed to work even if she wanted to? She's educated enough, and with her (father's) cash, she could easily open a beauty parlor and get enough business to pull her share of the burden. But I'm willing to bet that had she offered to do it, Dadi for one would object on izzat grounds - horror of horrors - the bahu of the house having to work? 😲😆

Another thing - although Padma supports Poonam, she too is often shocked by her outbursts, like last night when she lashed out @ Deepu asking him when isn't there some crisis in this family? And on this, I agree w/ Poonam - regardless of whether society tolerates this in a bahu, it's one thing to expect a bahu to make sacrifices and downgrade her lifestyle, which Poonam has done, and completely another to expect her to put up w/ some new shock daily. If every happy moment that she has planned out w/ her hubby is going to be sabotaged by these sort of incidents, how does one expect her to be tolerant?

Also, I'd say that Poonam has learned a lot and adjusted a lot, given what she was before she married. Sushma, otoh, still seems like she has a flat learning curve - last night's bhashan was the first sign of maturity in her that I've ever seen. Oh, and when will she stop being a parasite on Jyoti-didi for her emotional needs - as it is, she's single-handedly destroyed Jyot's marriage by her antics over the last year.
