Pankaj is flustered @ Jyoti's demand, and at first yells @ Jyoti that I already told you, but then contains himself and tells the judge that he'd have no rights to the baby. Everybody in his family look @ him stunned, and he offers to put it in writing, if needed. He demands a sworn affidavit to that effect, and yells that he'd sign it that very moment, and Jyoti looks @ him dismayed. He asks Jyoti whether she wants anything more, and demands that she ask for it right now!!! (Funny, given that the 2nd testimony that he asked Jyoti to sign was unwarranted, since she had already signed off on the divorce). He tells her that even today, he was willing to do anything to make her happy (except of course, forgive her, take her back or acknowledge that kid as his own).
Back @ home, Sushma tries calling Jyoti, but finds out that the phone is switched off. Padma & Dadi suggest that they go to court, but KK says that by the time they get there, the proceedings will be over. Padma asks why he didn't tell them, and KK tells her that Jyoti is resilient to handle that. Dadi says that the reason they'd be there would be to help her if she breaks down, but KK asks her who'd manage them if they broke down? He says that they can't afford to cry in front of her.
Jyoti and Kalpana leave the courtroom, and Kalpana sees Pankaj, CM & Neelam's parents from a distance. She orders Jyoti to wait right there, and Jyoti pleads w/ her not to, but Kalpana tells her that today, she's not going to listen to Jyoti, and she heads towards Pankaj. CM sees Kalpana headed their way, and asks whether Pankaj is still needed, and then asks Uday to take Pankaj away. However, Kalpana interrupts and calls Pankaj. CM tells her that Pankaj won't talk to anybody, and in any case, what's left to discuss? She doesn't want any scene, and Kalpana retorts that everybody knows who created the scene. Pankaj stops CM, and tells her to let Kalpana to say whatever she wants. Kalpana tells him that it's not enough to simply hear what she has to say - one also has to listen. She asks Pankaj whether he remembers what Kalpana's mom told him after the marriage? To follow his instincts, not other people, because instincts never lie. She reminds him of his promise, and Pankaj gets a flashback of Kalpana's mom telling him that if any injustice was done to Jyoti in her sasural, would he ever trust the words of anyone else over Jyoti's? In such a case, Jyoti's life will be completely covered in darkness. Kalpana then asks Pankaj to ask himself whether he's been following his instincts, or whether his mind is convinced that Jyoti is guilty? She asks him to ask himself whether the baby he is carrying isn't his? She tells him that he's made this relationship a mockery, due to this lie which she asked Jyoti to tell. And she was right - his ego would be bruised if he was told, as eventually happened. (Kalpana, in that case, shouldn't you have advised Jyoti against going into this marriage, instead of prodding her along and encouraging her to go ahead w/ it?) She tells Pankaj that Jyoti was an idiot for believing in him and his love more than his ego. CM remarks that everybody loves creating a scene, and asks the counsel to fetch the divorce order. Kalpana continues that Jyoti kept her faith in him until the last moment, but Pankaj couldn't see it, right? The most regrettable thing was that Pankaj's mind was blind as well, and he put his ego ahead of it. She tells him to live w/ his ego, since his choices in life were love or ego. (This is not making much sense, but I'm just reporting what Kalpana said) Kalpana then splits.
Jyoti is in a trance as Kalpana asks her whether she wants to go home, and Jyoti refuses, saying that she has plenty of work.
They head to the dance class, and Jyoti goes to the Nataraja statue there. She greets it, and then starts dancing. The others watch her while she is at it. She dances pretty furiously, and the others look worried. Finally, she collapses on the ground, grabbing her stomach.
Pankaj enters his room, and sitting on his bed, recollects Jyoti's remarks about his possession of the baby. Kalpana's words also reverberate in him.
Everybody rushes to Jyoti, and ask her if she's okay? Kalpana tells Bhagya that she has all that stress, and then this dance. She decides to call a doctor, but Jyoti tries to stop her.
Kalpana's phone rings, & it's Basu, the editor of Jyoti's paper, who tells her that he's been trying Jyoti all morning. He tells her that there was a fantastic response to her article. He also asks that due to some technical problems w/ proofreading, he'd need Jyoti's article 2 days earlier next week, but Kalpana tells him that Jyoti is unwell. She would however ask Jyoti to call him. She tells Jyoti that everyone liked her article, but that right now, she'd call a doctor. The 2 of them fight it out whether to or not to call a doctor, and finally, they call a taxi and decide to go home.
At the Sharma home that night, Sushma has been trying several times, but neither Jyoti nor Kalpana are reachable. They are all worried, but Deepu tells them that if Kalpana is w/ her, there is no reason to worry. Just then, the bell rings. Deepu opens the door, and finds Jyoti somewhat hyper. She goes in, tells Padma that she's hungry, asks what's to eat, and tells them she's preparing Kadhi. Everybody is somewhat taken aback by this uncharacteristically hyper mood of Jyoti, and her cheerful comments are simply greeted w/ silence from everybody. KK asks her to come w/ him alone to the other room, and Jyoti asks him what's the problem? He tells her not to smile, and assures her that everything will ultimately be okay. Jyoti's mood changes, and she now starts to cry, and KK joins her in the exercise. Everybody else watches this from outside.
In the Vashisth mansion, Sudha is recalling the exchange b/w Jyoti & Pankaj, when a servant tells her that she's called by CM. Downstairs, they are packing Jyoti's stuff into the car, and CM tells Sudha that they neither have room for Jyoti's stuff nor a need for it, and therefore, tells her to go and return this to Jyoti. Sudha glares @ her (she looks almost like Devika here) and CM gives her a jewelery box of Jyoti's toe rings, asking her to return it. She also asks her to bring back stuff that belongs to this house - like the kangans that Gayatri had given Jyoti, but which now are Neelam's by right. She tells her to fetch them.
Sudha looks shocked, and CM asks her why is she staring @ her like that? She asks whether she needs to write that stuff down, while Uday arrives. Sudha perks up and refuses, saying that she's not going to go. Pankaj is surprised, and Uday's focus shifts from CM to Sudha, as he looks @ her surprised. CM is shocked and asks her what she dared say, and Sudha firmly tells her that she's heard correctly, and that Sudha will not be going. Sudha has a firm, bold, determined look, reminiscent of Devika, while CM looks @ her flabbergasted. Uday looks @ her w/ pride, while Sudha and CM are eye-locked. The episode ends.
(But I agree w/ Poonam here, however tactless she might have been by discussing this in front of everybody. I mean, how Jyoti is perceived affects not only her, but also those around her. Poonam has married into the family knowing everything about her, and believing her a/c, but she does have to defend her to friends who don't know Jyoti that well. And while one can say anything in day to day life, statements made in court are generally held as more authentic. So what Jyoti did was damaging to those around her, and tactless as Poonam may have been, she was absolutely right in what she told Jyoti re: the repercussions of her decisions. Of course, Poonam is probably going to get the 3rd degree from Deepu, Dadi, KK and even Mahesh-ji, but she is absolutely spot-on.
No precap about how the saas vs bahu faceoff continued. See it tonight)

I liked Kalpana today - particularly every point where she refused to listen to Jyoti. Jyoti is so self-destructive that she should be banned from making her own decisions, particularly about her health, and be the ward of somebody - be it Kalpana, KK or whoever. At the courthouse, Kalpana did well to intercept Pankaj b4 he could escape to Uday, and later, she did well to insist on calling a doctor. She should have gone ahead, and Bhagya-da should have threatened to fire Jyoti if she refused to see one. I can see Jyoti dying just due to her own self-neglect.
I thought Kalpana was rambling when she spoke to Pankaj, and I still disagree w/ her that Pankaj should not have been told about Jyoti's affair w/ Brij. Au contraire, if this was what Kalpana thought, then Pankaj should have been given the opportunity to reject Jyoti before marriage. Instead, Kalpana irresponsibly cajoled Jyoti into accepting it.
One thing I didn't get - if Basu could get hold of Kalpana, how come Sushma couldn't? Also, if the Sharmas were all waiting hours for Jyoti, why didn't they prepare the meal, so that when Jyoti came home, she could eat? Granted, she looked giddy, but still, her hunger is understandable.
Also, has Jyoti gotten over this, as she always lectures, or hasn't she? If she has, why is she always in a trance when she sees or thinks about Pankaj - whether it's something as mundane as crossing him, or thinking of him whenever something happy happens (like Deepu getting married). And if she isn't, wouldn't she do well to lose the hyperbole about moving on?
Finally, like others noticed in the other thread, looks like Sudha has finally found her strength - today, she looked like she had the strength of Devika, w/o necessarily the swashbuckling style of the latter. And it looked like enough to unnerve CM. My prediction - tomorrow, CM is simply going to have to do this thing herself, and Sudha won't be in an awkward spot vis a vis Jyoti.
Episode rating: đđźđđź
A somewhat dull episode, except for Sudha's defiance @ the end.
