An example from the past and an analysis

Ever since the show started there is a lot of debate and disagreement on what is appropriate for fans and loyalty etc. so here goes.....
As you guys might know Plato, a great thinker from the past was prosecuted for criticising his government's policies and acts, he was labelled as traitor and disloyal. When he was asked by someone on whether he is against the state he said, "I am like the fly that sits on the tail of an animal, i disturb and i distract it from its state of complacency". What he meant was, he was loyal to his country, but criticised its flaws, so that the state would put its efforts in correcting its flaws and become an even better nation. He loved his country and that is why he criticised it so that it would improve itself.
Now if in this example we put the contestants as the nation state and the contestants fans as its citizens it becomes clearer. Because one is a fan of a contestant does not mean that that contestants flaws should be ignored. blind devotion does not prove loyalty. One can be a fan of a contestant and still criticise that contestant with the hope that they will improve and become an even better performer.
the govt of a state is formed by a majority consensus amongst its citizens. but any state no matter how powerful is still open to question and criticism by any and all its citizens, not just the ones that voted it into power. The state is the most powerful and yet it has its duty to prove to each and every citizen, its worth and its responsibility. So basically a state has the responsibility of doing its best to show all the citizens that it deserves to be in power. You cannot just say that the govt party that is in power was voted by the majority so the govt doesnt need to prove anything to the people who didnt vote for it. Now when this idea is applied to DID, one can see the voting system as the voting system in the general nation state, where a contestant is known as the highest vote getter based on consensus of the majority. Even so the person voted on the top still has to work hard and show not only the people who voted for him/her but the entire population watching that show, that he/she deserves to be in that top position.
Those were thoughts on two topics, loyalty by the fans and responsibility of the contestant. I am a sociology and psychology student so its very interesting to me, watching the show and the reactions of fans 😳
Another thing, which isnt related to the topics mentioned above, i remember last season anytime they sued these props or stunts such as aerial acts, bungee etc. I used to feel so floored by them. I used to think omg, thats amazing how do they do that. But now as we are getting along in the second season it doesnt hold my attention so much or create a sense of awe in me. No doubt the difficulty level of using these stunts and props has remained the same, so do u guys feel that repeated viewing of such things in the show has desensitized us as an audience? If so, how much further should the contestants push themselves, in order to gain the respect and adoration of their audience?

Last season Terence started the aerial acts and his team used the bungee ropes, poles, etc and props like ladder, chair, pot, trampoline, tyre, etc, and his choreography was magical for all of them... Remo also did a good job for some of them, though some flawed due to the poor execution of the contestants - for example, Khushboo's ribbon act, Salman's rope duet, etc.. Geeta didnt do any such acts last season that I could remember. This season however Terence moved to other styles and he is using his creativity to bring other different dance forms onto DID stage, while Geeta has started to go along the path of aerial acts and props, and since we already saw great acts with those in last season, we dont feel the same excitement anymore...

Yeah, i think geeta should take that into consideration when she puts acts together, when those things have been seen by the audience before it fails to generate the same response as it did intially. and really, there are some many avenues left unexplored by DID in terms of dancing, its time to really let that creative energy bring something new to the stage

I think last season DID opened a lot of acts that we haven't seen on Indian television, hence it did seem so amazing...its not that the aerial acts have not been attempted before by anyone but its just that it was opened to the indian masses on Indian television for the first time...and now it is getting repetitive...I think the choreographers now shud use the stunts and acts only if they can wow us...I personally felt the bungee rope act by B and D was so amateurish..Just to show us that she can attempt new styles Geeta Maa is using all these props but not making great use of it...Either wow us judges or don't use it...simple...

yeah, and we as audience need to see the difficulty level of the act as well as the flawlessness of it. Time and again i have seen her attempt props that are difficult according to her but it doesnt show to us as the audience. Examples:
1. The act altaf did with the drums, it looked clumsy. she said the drums are heavy and they may be heavy but the people sitting at home cannot feel the weight of the drums, all they see is a guy moving drums around....
2. Binny's act with the Diya:the diyas might be heavy but the audience cant feel the weight on their head, they will just see the awkwardness and hesitation in her dance.
3. Dharmesh's Thaiyyam dance: Same problem as the two before. The dance may be difficult and the stuff might weigh 50 kilos but the audience doesnt feel the weight, they can only see the visual and that looks strained and flawed

Also Binny's belly dancing with the wheel...what was that in the dance for...it looked more like a filler...I guess Geeta Maa just seems to be happy and excited abt using ht eprops instead of thinking what more can make it look awesome...

good thing mithun suggested dances with no props or stunts. I remember the dance amrita did on the marathi song, in her last solo, i liked it so much because it was entertaining throughout without any use of props. adding props places an added responsibility of doing a lot with the prop, because otherwise someone or the other on the show will say the prop could have been used more or in other ways. enough of props, lets see more dance now
