Anyways Farislove, I understand your point of view. But then other members do feel that because Shahid is a celebrity, he should set a good example in country where fairness is considered superior to other complexions. LIke when ppl felt that kareena's size zero was a bad statement towards the youth. Yeah she did it for herself and for a role, but it had a bad impact on the mind of the youth who felt that perhaps size zero was the only thing attractive. I'm glad she was criticized for it, coz she needs to be careful about what she projects to the youth. When you're celebs, its not JUST about personal choices anymore. The fact is, ppl look up to celebs as role models in many cases, so they should act responsively and try to measure up.
Ofcourse, that doesnt happen often. Celebs arent even close to being role models. They are full of faults liek ppl, but in a country like India, they are put on that threshhold.
So its about acting responsibly, not just "oh i use it". Becuase that does reflect your morals.
Kareena says she'll never endorse a food product that has meat in it, coz it goes against her morals. So in a way, what you chose to endorse does reflect on yourself as well as what ppl perceive as "cooL' in the case of a young rising celeb like Shahid.

I understand all this, but nobody has the right to use such word like supporting racism about anyone, I am against such words, I said the truth, people have to think millions times before using such words like racism, etc..... about anyone, this is called judging people and to judge human being is only ALLAH has the right to, beside this they don't know them in person..........
I know what u said about being celeb is not much personal, I agree on this, but using a word like racism is getting so much personal aur woh bhi in a very rude way, which is very wrong.........

Racism is a strong word. But I dont think lily meant shahid is racist. I think she meant that by endorsing such products, you fuel the fire that makes fair skin look more suprior to other complexion. And that is a very subtle for of racism, isnt it? When one complexion if put above another?
And that makes it that much more important in a country liek india where being dark is considered a negative trait. Up until early 2000, makeup artsts woudl cake up actresses face to make them look lighter. Even Bipasha, who has such a gorgeous complexion was made to look pale in Ajnabee. Thank god we're breaking out of that mold now, slowly but surely. But its very much there yeah? And the fact that even up until the new millenium you have such issues, it shows that this mentality hasnt gone away.
Celebs need to be careful. Fairness products are NOT acceptable. In my eyes atleast. And lily feels strongly about it as well.

It was clearly said supporting racism which is wrong, it's getting too personal, I don't even think they ever thought of such things, people r getting too much on this, such creams are much used around world, do u think all people thought of such things?, beside this they r actors, taking care of their look is very important in this field, even if we try to avoid to, but it's fact............
I too don't support such products, but it doesn't mean to point fingers at these celebs for being supporting racism, why to not point fingers at the people who make these products?, celebs job is only to do these ads, it doesn't mean they support racism, I doubt if they ever think in this way about it..........

Can we STOP talking about what lalixlil may or may not have meant to say. And stick with discussing what the topic was originally created for.
