Over the years this is what our Bollywood beauties have to say about the oldest and most glorious filmi award in the country - The Filmfare Award.

Shah Rukh Khan:

"At the end of the year, when I look back and see all the good and the not-so-good work I've done, and want to evaluate myself on the same; it is the Filmfare Award that means everything to me. It is the justification for everything I've done that past year. It is the fructification of all my efforts and my toil. And it is the vindication of my belief in my talent, my work and myself. I don't have any set standards for these, but at the end of the year, it is the Filmfare award that is my standard of excellence, and my benchmark of measure of achievement. It has the greatest meaning to me and I would like to take one home every year if I could."

Rani:

"I think awards are good, per se. There is nothing like this award is bad or that award is bad. I think if someone gives you an award, appreciating your work, you should take it in the right spirit and accept it gracefully. In that sense, I think all awards are good. I would respect each and every award that comes my way. The Filmfare Awards being the oldest holds special value for me!"

Preity Zinta:

"Being nominated for the Filmfare Awards makes me feel little lighter than cloud 9!"

What stars really think of Filmfare…?

Sushmita:

"Well, the award certainly means lots to me. Ever since I was a kid I have literally grown up watching the awards. I never imagined in my wildest dreams that one day I would be a contender for it. Just thinking about it gives me a high."

Vivek Oberoi :

"It means a lot because somewhere I think it is such a dignified award which has so much tradition to it. It has history to it. And there have been so many people who have been part of the competition, part of the awards for decades now. It's going to be five decades very soon. It's a part of our cultural history, a part of the history of cinema in India today. It's a very prestigious award. There were times as a boy when I used to wake up in the middle of the night and continue dreaming with my eyes open, thinking what it would be like to be declared the winner and go and accept that award. It's a great feeling, and I think that's what dreams are made of."

Bipasha:

"The Filmfare Awards are great. They are challenging, a lot of fun, glamour and entertainment."

Sonu Nigam:

"I have expected to be nominated every year, and I have expected to win many times as well. The Award however, has managed to evade me for the last 10 years. But that's a different story. I am doing better work every year and so this nomination hasn't come as a surprise. I also expected a nomination for the song 'Mera Rang De Basanti' from the film 'Legend of Bhagat Singh' and am disappointed that it hasn't been nominated. But well, being nominated for an award like this gives me a high."

Vivek Oberoi:

"It feels great. Almost embarrassing, to be on the same list as such superb performers and veterans like Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan), Shah Rukh, Ajay Devgan, Mohanlal. I mean I used to literally bunk school to watch their movies, and for me, seeing my name in the same bracket as them is a very big thing. And its something as big as the Filmfare Awards, my feeling justified."

What stars really think of Filmfare…?

Ameesha Patel:

"I've been nominated every year since I've joined this industry, so it feels good that's I've made a hatrick with a nomination this year again. I was nominated for 'Kaho Na Pyar Hai', 'Gadar' and now 'Humraaz'. But like every other year, I guess I'm not going to win the award this time too. But that doesn't take away from the joy of being nominated for a prestigious award like this."
…?

Rani:

"I feel a Filmfare Award nomination itself says a lot for any actress. Moreover, to be in the Best Actress category of all is something that anyone would look forward to. Winning or losing is part of the game, and I don't believe that should be taken seriously. The very fact that you have been nominated means your performance has been appreciated. It proves that people from all walks of life have voted for you, and that itself is a great thing."

Akshaye Khanna:

"Winning the Filmfare Award reflects that the film fraternity has acknowledged and appreciated your work. They are the people who actually understand all that goes in to making a good film and bringing out a great performance. In that respect it makes a big difference. Of course, it also shows the love of the fans and their belief in you as a good performer."

Bipasha:

"I wasn't expecting the nomination under the category of Best Actress, but yes, I did expect 'Raaz' - as a film to be nominated. I was upset that the other awards didn't much recognise the film but I'm glad that Filmfare did."

Sushmita:

"Frankly speaking, I was quite disappointed with all the other awards. And when the Filmfare nominations were announced, I didn't expect my name would be there. I was a bit surprised to find my name. I'm happy because Filmfare is the biggest of them all. And a nomination itself is a big honour and whatever the results will be, I will accept it with all humility."

Shilpa Shetty:

"It feels good. Because I won Best actress in a comic role at some other ceremony, and I felt it was so unfair because the role has a lot of scope and it's not just a comic role. It was pretty challenging. You can't slot it as a comic role, and I think Filmfare has been very fair here."

Zayed:

"I just heard that Dilip Kumar sa'ab was the first actor to ever get an award, and to be in the presence of the same superstar in the 50th year is a privilege. It takes us down

Shilpa Shetty:

This is an award that the film fraternity takes very seriously. I don't want to sound boring or cliched, but I do not believe in awards. I believe in rewards (laughs). Seriously, I'm extremely happy because I've got the nomination after ten years. I was nominated once before in the Best supporting actress category for 'Baazigar' which was my first film. So it's pretty exciting."

Amrita Rao

"Filmfare is one award I've grown up recognizing as the award show. Now that I'm part of the industry, the 50th year means a lot to me, especially because one doesn't know if they are going to be around for the 100th year. Being a part the 50th year of the Filmfare is like being a part of history. And when I heard that I was nominated, said to myself "Oh My God!"

Preity Zinta:

"I used to hear about the Filmfare Awards even when I was a child, back then I never in my wildest imagination thought I would be part of it someday, and that I will witness the 50th year of the Awards sitting there in the audience as an actress. It's an amazing feeling; Filmfare Awards is the oldest and most special."

Rani:

"I'll never forget the excitement when I received my first 'Filmfare' Award as Best Supporting Actress for 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. That day will always be special to me. 'Filmfare' has always been kind and rewarding to me; you can well imagine how I'm feeling with three nominations!"

…?

Shah Rukh Khan:

"Wining the Filmfare Award is becoming a bad habit with me now. And it's becoming a difficult habit to break. But I enjoy and look forward to it every year."

Zayed:

"Feels on top of the world! Knowing the fact that I have been nominated along with accomplished actors will push me to take my work even more seriously now." "If I win I'll go bonkers! I wouldn't know what hit me!"
