Jyoti's phone rings, but she is wondering what to do about it other than answer it, and how to deal with the promise of her being there. Kalpana arrives, and Jyoti explains to her her predicament. Kalpana answers the phone and tells Mahesh-ji that she's Jyoti's friend, and that Jyoti's @ the mandir. Mahesh-ji is impressed, but asks that she hurry up. All this while, KK, Deepu, Uday, Sushma are watching in embarrassment. Mahesh-ji tells Kalpana that they will wait until she arrives, and Kalpana asks him to go ahead, saying that Jyoti will be very late. Mahesh-ji responds that since Jyoti was the one who set this up, the question of starting w/o her doesn't arise. There is still time, so he asks her to tell Jyoti to get there soon.
Kalpana tells Jyoti that the marriage is not going to happen w/o her. They're pondering how to deal w/ this, whle Mahesh-ji tells KK that they will be joining them soon. KK takes Padma aside and asks her why she was lying? He tells her not to cry, saying that she is being watched. In the meantime, Jyoti calls Sudha to find out the situation, and Sudha tells her that she'll talk later, since @ that moment, MN, CM and Minal enter, and KK welcome him. Padma calls Sushma and asks her to take them to Deepu. Deepu greets MN, and Minal gives him the gift. Uday thanks CM for coming, and CM confirms that he's there longer. She tells him that they'll only be there for a while. She does thank them for keeping their end of the bargain and not including Jyoti.
Deepu gives the packages to Sushma, who's about to drop them, and CM asks her to be careful w/ those. She then spots Sudha's bangles on Sushma's hands, and glaring @ Sudha, remarks that it's great that they are sharing things, but warns Sushma to take good care of them, since they are family heirlooms, which for them is very carefully maintained (Well done, Padma, pity you weren't here to see the effect of your work not on Sudha, but on Sushma) Dadi perks up and ask Bhairavi why is she always in a sullen mood? (Fantastic question!!!) CM laughs off the comment & denies it, and Dadi asks her to excuse any shortcomings today should they occur. CM smiles.
They are then taken to KK and Mahesh-ji, and KK introduces Mahesh-ji to Bhairavi, MN & Minal. KK & Padma split to welcome other guests, leaving Mahesh-ji to the Vashisths. Bhairavi asks when the mahurat will occur, and he says soon, and introduces Prabha to them. KK tells Padma that Jyoti has to be called quickly, or her lies would be caught. Padma asks him to engage CM in conversation, and KK responds that all this is due to her lies. Padma asks him to focus on the present, and she would call Jyoti. Sushma calls Jyoti and hands it to Padma, who asks Jyoti to get her out of this. She also tells him that the wedding has been held up.
Padma tells Jyoti that Deepu's sasur is waiting for him, and they can't tell them that she's not coming. She asks her to come anyway, and they'll deal w/ the consequences later. Jyoti protests that that would violate the agreement she had w/ the Vashisths. She says that not only would they torment Sudha later, but they'd create a scene right in front of Deepu's in-laws. Padma tells her that if she doesn't come, the wedding won't happen, but Jyoti assures her otherwise. Padma tells her to do whatever she's going to do fast.
Jyoti tells Kalpana that she's learnt an important lesson - no lies end up with a good outcome, no matter how honorable the intentions. So she'll tell the truth. She calls Mahesh-ji and tells him about the invitation when she and KK went to invite the Vashisths, the condition that CM placed on her, which is why she is unable to be @ her brother's wedding, and Mahesh-ji is saddened to hear that. He tells her that he respected her when she came w/ her proposal, and he respects her even more now, and he'll support her decision, even though he's disappointed that she won't be there. He then glares @ the Vashisths from a distance, b4 continuing on the task @ hand.
He then takes Prabha aside, and asks her to bring Poonam for the ceremony. Prabha protests that Jyoti hasn't arrived, but Mahesh-ji tells her not to question him, but to simply go ahead w/ the ceremony. Mahesh-ji then goes to KK&P, and tells them that he's spoken to Jyoti, and that she's told him everything. He tells them that they'll start the wedding. Dadi is glad to hear that, and praises him for standing by them in adversity. She then notices Poonam and is overjoyed at seeing the dulhan.
Poonam is brought in, and then seated next to Deepu. Sudha's phone rings, and she starts describing it to Jyoti. Poonam garlands Deepu, and Deepu does the same, while others shower them w/ flowers.
Part 3
The ceremony starts, and everyone is admiring it, while Jyoti listens to it over the phone. Then the priest asks the groom to call his sister to tie the nuptual knot, and Padma calls Sushma to do that. One of the Trivedi clan tells Prabha that this is the younger sister, but where is the older sister, 👏👏👏 and Jyoti listens to this dismayed. Prabha tells her that she's caught up in some work, and CM, surprised, turns to her (maybe not sure whether she's unaware herself or just covering up for someone) Prabha says that due to her delay, they are starting now. The relative responds that what can be more important than the bro's wedding, and that even if she is caught up somewhere, it's the duty of the bro to wait (All this while, the Sharmas are embarrassed, and so are the Vashisths). She points out that it was Prabha who told her that Jyoti set this whole thing up, and how it must hurt if she has to live the rest of her life having missed it. Jyoti is hearing these comments over the phone sadly, and Deepu is persuaded by the argument of Prabha's relative. She continues that they should wait (CM's face was a picture), while she continued the story of how her bro waited for 4 hours on a horse until she arrived (well, she didn't have a MIL like CM, did she? 😆😆) She says that times have changed, and that since she's met Prabha, she's now leaving. Prabha tries to persuade her to stay, and she says that if the wedding can go on w/o the sister, it can surely go on w/o her. 👏
Despite all this, Padma asks Sushma to tie the knot, and at that point, Deepu gets up tells her to stop (stunning Poonam), and announcing that until Jyoti didi arrives, this wedding is not going ahead. 🥳🥳🥳 Jyoti is shocked to hear this, while everyone else, including CM and Padma is stunned as well.
Jyoti arrives @ the marriage on her bike, and walks in. On the way, she is encountered by Bhairavi, who accuses her of breaking her promise. Jyoti tells her firmly that that condition was imposed just to hurt her, and her parents had taught her that one tolerates these things only up to a limit. Today she will see how Bhairavi dares try to do anything.
🥳Long overdue - Bhairavi deserves the same treatment from Jyoti that Brij used to get from her. 🥳
Great episode today. Yeah, Jyoti is still out there, but several things happened to celebrate.
First of all, Mahesh-ji initially put Jyoti in a pickle by making it clear that the wedding is not starting w/o her. This had the added benefit of embarrassing Padma and catching her in her lie. Later, Jyoti decided that this time, the only thing that would serve her was the truth, and bared all to Mahesh-ji.
Then, I was glad that when CM and her party entered, they saw for themselves that Jyoti was indeed kept out of the celebrations, and acknowledged as much to the Sharmas. Of course, CM is shameless, and there is no consistency b/w her statements from one moment to the next, but it's plain to the Sharmas & MN that Jyoti was initially left out.
I wish the introduction to Deepu had been more embarassing for CM, than it was for Sushma & Sudha. I wish Sushma had dropped and broken the gifts, if they were indeed breakable. I also thought Uday's thanking CM for being there was gratuitous, since it was causing undue embarassment to the groom's family. It was also galling to see CM introduced to Mahesh & Prabha, but thankfully, once Mahesh-ji heard the truth from Jyoti, he looked @ CM w/ disgust. Yesterday, I thought Mahesh-ji was a hero, and I can understand how being new to the Sharmas, he decided to acquiesce w/ Jyoti's request to go ahead w/o him.
That was one of the high points today - as a result of Jyoti's forced truth telling, CM was exposed to Mahesh-ji for a start, and hopefully, that will spread right here itself. It would be fun to see the vaunted Vashisth reputation dragged thru the mud, and the central object of that odium being Bhairavi herself. Everybody in the Trivedi party has heard of Jyoti and how she put this together, and this, rather than the imaginary affairs that she had cheating on Pankaj, was what Jyoti was known for, with the result that her absence was not well taken at all by the Trivedis, no matter how effective Jyoti was in getting the Sharmas to acquiesce.
The star of today's episode was not Jyoti, Sudha, Uday or even Mahesh-ji, but rather that relative of Prabha who protested @ the wedding not waiting for Jyoti. I was equally thrilled to hear Jyoti experience what the effect of her sado-masochism was on the wedding - for the sake of Sudha's 'happiness', she was putting the reputation of the entire family in jeopardy. At any rate, I was all thrilled to hear her protest at why the groom couldn't wait for Jyoti, and why the person who put all this together was being so treated. The icing on the cake was that CM was right there to hear it all, so she experienced first hand how her decisions were being perceived by total strangers, even if so far, they were unaware of the fact that she was behind this. After this lady's protest, even she couldn't have blamed Deepu for standing up and stating that it wasn't going ahead w/o Jyoti (although she probably will, despite praising them initially for not including Jyoti).
Episode rating: 👍🏼👍🏼 (should be more today if Jyoti appears on popular demand)
A must see episode - ignore the spoilers in the other thread, and just watch it: you'll enjoy most of it.
