Because the story makes no sense at all MeSimi. If you remember the awful electrocution scene (I know that is going to be tough recollect that awful moment of nonsense but bear with me), Simi goes to Abhi and says that if her father does not support the wedding, then he should not push it. So her father's opinion matters, but it OVERRIDES the desire for her self-sacrifice.

Simi has an illness - the compulsive need to sacrfice herself and even when the one she loves, her father, advises her against it, she still engages in that behavior.

I have had to witness greater tragedies....i mean comedies in name of love by people in real life. So this din affect me much.

Anyway i din take that scene to heart cos there was no theories of physics applied. Abhi switched fan on from the main board. She could not switch off with the fan switch or the board switch. When Simi left the switchboard in disgust, she had put it in off mode. But still the fan was on. Abhi comes and manages to switch off with the fan switch. Now when all ways it switched off, where was the electrical circuit from ?

I was literally laughing out loud watching that.
