If you think SRK is the first actor to play a role of an autistic in the movie My Name Is Khan, then you couldn't be more wrong. It was Shamili.

Before you scratch your head to remember, does Anjali ring a bell? May be it did, yes Shamili is the girl who played the title role in Mani Ratnam's Anjali as a child suffering from autism. After Anjali, Indian cinema went on to explore and examine the emergent perspective on 'understanding' autism which ensued in quite a few movies based on that.

But who has portrayed the life of an individual suffering from such mental disability the best? We give you the options, you take a pick.

1. Hrithik Roshan in Koi… Mil Gaya

As a mentally disabled child, Hrithik sweeped more awards than his role as a superhero Krrish. His puppy-dog attachment with Jaadu (The Alien), his child-like infatuation with Preity tugged everyone's hearts.

2. Sean Penn in I am Sam

If it sounds like My Name Is Khan then it's a different story, we won't go into that. Sean Penn was brilliant as a mentally retarded man fighting for the custody of his daughter in this Oscar nominated performance. Do try and catch the movie before you go for SRK's film, comparing him with Sean will be fun.

3. Ajay Devgan in Main Aisa Hi Hoon

As an autistic Indraneel, who has a body of a grown man and mind of a seven-year-old, Ajay's performance is nuanced and touching. The film didn't do well but Ajay's role was critically acclaimed.

4. Dustin Hoffman in Rainman

Many people started watching this movie as a Tom Cruise' fan and ended up cheering for Dustin more than him. That's enough of a reason for us to give him the title of the 'Best On Screen Autistic'. What's more this movie won 4 Oscars including the best actor, director and movie.

SRK-had Asperger's in MNIK

Hrithik and Ajay suffered from mental retardation..Ajay's character in that movie did not have autism...because he could communicate well and talk...autism is completely different..so right then and there the article loses credibility

they're both VERY different mental disorders..so it isn't fair to compare them

in the movie Rainman, Dustin Hoffman does the same exact acting that SRK did in MIK

their is even a scene in rainman when dustin is trying to corssed street. Just like SRK does when he first meets kajol
