Who deserve high civilian honours(Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri), Showmen or real contributers to the nation in spheres of art, education, literature, social service e.t.c.?

There are numerous social workers, activists, environmentalists, writers e.t.c. who deserve such honours..(many of them dont seek for media attention and fame, they dont care for awards. That's what you call selfless service..😊)

Last year Aiswarya Rai, Akshay Kumar and all received padmashri.. Why? For what??!!😲

Disgraceful..

Yes, I agree. The Padma Shree is a prestigious award and should be given to connoseiurs of art, literature, theatre etc.. who gave worldwide recognition to India. Aishwariya may deserve it, as she's represented India and acted in many foreign movies representing India, but the other two simply don't. Unfortunately, even politics influences these awards, very sad and unfair indeed.

Yeah, many undeserving people get these awards, it's unfair to those who really deserve it. :(

But one person this year I know who got the Padma Bhushan and very much deserved it is Dr. Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana, who is one of the most famous Carnatic Music singers and is well respected. He also donated to many charities.

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan's name in the list of Padma Shri awardees may have raised some eyebrows but the star says that he deserves the honour Saif Ali Khan and will try his best to live up to it.

saif ali khan also got padma shri award hmmmm.... even thus his case is pending in rajashthan court for killing Chinkaras in Rajastan he is facing charges in differenet sections of IPC, he has beaten one reporter once, for that also he is facing some charges, he has left his first wife 13 yrs older to him and now he is romancing 13 yrs younger kareena. Who says he doesnt deserve Padma shri?
Its clearly shows how biased and usless these awards are...may be next time he should kill an elephant or tiger to get veer chakra lolz.. or he should be more close to her mother sharmila tagor who is film Film Censor Board chief ... I think its purely a political decision, az his mom having good repo with UPA gov.....az influence works everywere

By selecting people like Saif for Padma Shri our government is reducing the worth of the award itself. This is no filmfare.Or may be he gotted fo his credits. Az He is brand ambassador for a great liquor brand assigned with the job of inspiring millions of youngsters to drink. Also of a nice salty oily junkfood snack called lays lmaoo.....

I think the Padmashree is being given away too easily. This award should be a rare prestige for someone truly deserving. While film acting is under 'arts', as much as I am a fan of actors and films, I do not think they deserve an award for making films. This should only be given if they have done something truly exceptional in filmmaking, not just good acting or good movie - but something that can truly move or touch, or reflect India and its society. Or they can receive it if they do significant work in other ways like promoting education, charities, science etc.

It is sad that our government chooses to demean one of its honors by wasting it on frivolous celebrities.
