Seems that a lot of these awards are politically linked I guess. National Awards should be for contributions to the country. I wonder if they looked at Ash for her winning an International Beauty contest too. Possible the Bacchan link helped.

By giving such prestigious awards so frivolously their worth gets diminished. I dont think any of the bollywood actors of recent few years deserved to get these awards. They do what they do for money & fame which they get aplenty. awards like filmfare, star-screen oscar etc is OK but certainly not an award of the calibre of the Padmashree & padmabhushan! Many of these winners dont even think twice B4 dancing at wedding parties , b day parties etc in exchange for huge amts of money.

It would be better to honour little known artists instead who are truly dedicated to their art & doing their bit without commercial motive.This wud atleast encourage other similar ppl. Gifting such prestigious awards to the current Bollywood actors serves no purpose in my opinion.

Not only bollywood ppl but others like chatwal & some medicos seem to B getting awards for all the wrong reasons. It seems to have become a trend to honour any surgeon who operates a VVIP patient with these awards. What about surgeons operating successfully on general public & who do not have the time to develop political contacts?

yeah this is true.

the value of these prestigious award is falling day by day....

the very deserving ppl are not being given...and its mainly getting influenced by media and other surrounding factors.!!

this is sad....

Now, I dont think these awards will have any value to it.

Dhoni probably understood that these awards are of no use. So he even missed the ceremony. 😛

You mean all Miss worlds and Miss Universe n Miss Earth n Miss India should get Padma awards?

I mean if they would have given the Award to someone who has done legendary work in bollywood, I wud have understand.
