Regarding this one point: Napster could be brought down because it was still somewhat centralized. Bring down the core and everything comes down. These days the trend is to become more and more decentralized. For example, from needing just the tracker to not even needing the tracker and even more.

Its basically about who stays in the front. Piracy has always been in the front.

Yeah watching a movie is becoming unaffordable, Rs 300 in a multiplex, Rs100 in a regular movie hall
The other day someone released a movie on a topic depicting some local politicians in a bad light. He invited two of the most infamous of those politicians to approve the movie they were fine with that. He didnt think that a guy in the govt would be offended
Once the movie was released the minister and his cronies released pirated DVD's of that movie in the marketUploaded the movie to freeware website
Poor guy, came out and promised he wont ever make a political film.
It is so easy to blame the politicians for bad things but the citizens are worser than them

I always support music piracy because I think it is a way of sticking it to major record label companies, that are super exploitative. People always support the artists that truly reach out to them, and so I don't think that's a problem. Nobody is exactly complaining that Britney Spears might be making one less million a year. Well, Sony might be, or whatever record company ruins her life at the moment (like they did to Michael Jackson), but not my concern.

Micro-"global domination"-soft and its shitty software I will not pay for. Same for Adobe and Apple. There is a difference between supporting software makers for their labour, ideas and useful products, and supporting companies that come out with software with the sole intent of making profit. Do we really need iTunes?

But I do support independent software available on the internet. And when people add a note asking for some support through paypal, I give what I reasonably can - sometimes it's just $10 or $20, but it's to compensate the person for putting it out there. A huge corporation doesn't exactly need my support to move their shares up in the market.

Also, forget paying for bollywood and most hollywood movies. They should be paying me to watch most of the same old rehashed stuff. Think of how many of my brain cells I would've lost.
