Why Himesh??? What has happened to ID? It's a disgrace for him to judge a show also judged by HR. Has he not taken the lesson from SRGMP?

What the hell does he understand about music? Even when other participants sang better, he was just chanting his lover's name 😉 on the show! Good singing to him, after all, is all about nose!

18 contestants for national singing competition in Delhi

Sangam Kala Group, which is engaged in promoting music, dance and drama, is organising the 29th edition of "Hero Honda Surtarang National Singing Talent Hunt" at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in Delhui this coming Saturday.

Aimed at providing budding singers from India and abroad a suitable platform, the competition will see the participation of 18 contestants in three main categories: sub-juniors in the five to 12 years age group; juniors in the 12 and 18 years age group; and seniors between 18 and 25 years.

Well-known ghazal singer Peenaz Masani will anchor the competition. Some leading music composers and singers from the Hindi film industry -- Ismail Durbar, Himesh Reshammiya and Ayesha Durbar -- will evaluate the performances as judges. Acclaimed singer Sunidhi Chauhan will also grace the event.

"This time participants from Canada, who honed their singing skills from Sur Kala Sangam there, will also get an opportunity to show their talent," says event organiser V.S.K.Sood. There will be two categories of songs: film-based and non-film songs. These categories will be applicable to each group and prizes for winner, runner-up and second runner-up would be given in each category.

The competition was started in memory of singer Master Madan in 1977. In fact, top-notch singers like Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Anand Raj Anand and Peenaz Masani are some of the Sangam Kala Group's discoveries, the organisers claim. The group has now de-centralised its activities and has 45 branches in India and four abroad. -- Madhur Tankha

My heart also goes to Debojit. Now Debojit is ahead by only 5%. We need to vote more for Debojit. Keep voting Debojit for bigger margin.
Debojit's fan from Singapore.

The lady who said, "We don't want it to be Assam's voice", was talking about any step motherly treatment to people from Northeast or to Muslims. She was only voicing her opinion that, even people in Northeast have to vote based on singer's talent and how one sang on that day. Not just because he is from Northeast or from Assam. If you look at all these newspaper reports, there are morchas and campaign to get more votes for Debojit. Before Mahesh Puri's heart goes all to people from Northeast, he should think whether these things done in Northeast are right. We are always hard on overselves and think about step motherly treatment to Muslims and alienating people from Assam but all we are saying is please vote based on singer's performance and not where he was born. We all understand Ismail Durbar's very patriotic saying Assam belongs to India. Yes it does but if you behave the way you are behaving, even if Debojit wins he is going to be tainted by all this saying that he won because he was born in Silchar. Never mind, he left that place long time back.

Here we go again. Another apologist for the "vote for talent, not region" brigade.

Mr. Hegde, you, and countless others before you in this forum, have forwarded the same argument ad nauseum. However, one tiny detail all of you conviniently forget is that the basic assumption in your argument is that Debojit is NOT the best singer. THAT, sir, is completely subjective. I think he is, you and your co-conspiracy-theorists say he is not. So, automatically, whenever he wins the most number of votes, your conspiracy theory generators go into overdrive and you keep parroting the regional voting mantra. I daresay that all of your reactions would have been VERY different if the candidate of your choice got the most votes.

About this huge number of votes from the NE for this candidate...have you even given it a thought, that people of that region, apart from liking his singing and his voice, may also find it easier to identify with him, and his middleclass background? Have you given it a thought that people who would not have normally voted in to a show like this could be doing so now because there was this wonderful singer there who was actually like them, from the same place, and who speaks the same language as them?? Is that regional bias?

Would the same regional bias deliver the huge number of votes to Debojit even if he was a lousy singer, and was genuinely worse than the other two or three jokers in the competition? If your answer is yes, you are the one who is biased here, Mr. Hegde. You are seriously underestimating the intelligence and taste of the people of an entire region. Who or what gives you the right to assume that you and your cohorts have more musical sense and taste than them? You have the GALL to put yourself up on a pedestal and pass condascending remarks about millions of people??

You are right. This is a singing competition. But it became cheap populist drama the day those two pretenders who claim to judges and musicians inspired and set off that dirty chain of events through their equally spineless 'chelas'.

And, you sir, before you get ahead of yourself and pat yourself on the back for the wonderful logic of your post, give a thought to the thought process of the people on the other side. Not everybody sees things the way you do, and they do not need to agree with you. Do not assume that yours is the only point of view around here.

Very true!!!👏

People who think that he's getting votes only from NE should take notice that he gets 9-10 LAKHS of votes each from north, south, west . Why assume that even ppl from north and south are voting for him because he's from NE? Dont u think its wierd???? Why wud I ,being from UP, not vote for a guy from UP, but a so- called Asamese, if he's not a good singer???

I mean what attachment do I or other supporters of Debo have with Debo? Has he promised to give something in return? Or wud he do something "free of cost for us"? (I think ye "Mahaan" karya sirf kuchh MAHAAN🤢 log hi kar sakte hain. Right HR?😉 )

People , dont forget taht were not talking of Qazi here, Its Debojit. Who has been a winner of SAREGAMA when it was counted in one of the respectful shows on TV. And the opponent now is not Nihira Joshi. So its an easy choice to make. VS is NOT and CERTAINLY NOT the better one.

If people think that they wud win with politics then I wud like to say ki Aisi jeet mein bhi haar hogi. And wud like to tell DEbo that even if u lose due to ongoing politics, you are and always will be in people's heart. Ek sachcha insaan hi sachcha aur achchha kalakaar ho sakta hai.

Three cheers for Debo👍🏼

this mohanhegde, uff! one born every minute!!!

yaar, do u see Man Mohan Singh run for office from Chennai or Deve Gowda from Delhi, or Sharad Pawar from Bengal. well y not? i am sure Deve Gowda's crowd thinks it wld be unfair unless he was the PM, ditto for the crook Pawar. did u see the 18L votes that hemu got from the south while only 3L were given to the other two. did u notice George Bush winning because of the votes he got from his blue states.

yaar, everywhere in the world, throughout history, people vote for their "own", whether its region or religion or some other form that they identify with. nothing wrong wit that. that is the meaning of "representative" democracy.

high time u developed a more evolved approach to thinking thru things 😉

just because u lose, dont cry. the alternative is to get urself a musharraff who'll force his opinions n ideas down ur sorry throat 😉
