shravani manav? NO WAYS! - Page 2

We've known about the accident for more than a week and got ourselves all primed on the edges of our seats for what we hoped would be its romantic consequences. But the story as we see it is happening in PR real time; i.e. just hours after Manav and Tarun have been arguing over the issue of his marriage in the chawl compound. Our hero is doing what he can reasonably do but the fall hasn't freed him of his promises and constraints. Besides, remember he's not the smartest person on earth. :-) He needs time to think things through. More time than most regular guys, it appears. There's also the issue of appropriate behaviour between man and woman: having committed to Shravani, though Archana is still his wife, he hesitates to sit down next to her while she's lying down, considering that too intimate an act. Now that's fairly puritanical, but also generally a decent thing to do given how conscious he is of her physical presence, and how powerfully attracted he still is to her. Which any guy would be; not to be size-ist, but Shravani is a colourless and spaced-out midget in comparison. Would you rather he took his chances and necked with Archana while still promised to Shravani? I think not, right? We're all too fond of the idea of Manav as an ethical being, even if his ethics can sometimes feel weird to us. And then he's a man anyway, so that slows his cogitative processes down some too.:-) Give him time.:-)
