Sid hasn't had the easiest time in Sanjeevani; he gets called over to India forcefully and on his first day of work he has an accident! Is there a light at the end of this dark, apparently never-ending tunnel? The "silver-lining" for Siddy turns out to be the adorable, simple "Miss puppy gayab" Tamana.
He finds himself gazing at her and everything goes into slow motion, he notices things he never did before- the colour of her eyes, how the wind that tangles itself in her silky hair. But HOLD ON A SECOND!
Miss puppy gayab?! When? How? What? Whyy was he suddenly obsessed with her? Why could he hear distant church bells when she looked at him? It just wasn't possible...There was no way he could "like" her..so what if there was a "guys family" who was coming to see her...it didn't make a difference to him , and besides they were friends he was permitted to ask questions...
He's infuriated by Tamana's passiveness, she retorts "What difference does it make to you?!"...that one question and all the emotions surge out and overwhelm him..."There's something between us Tamana...don't you feel it?" he shouts at her, almost pleading with her to understand...but she doesn't. He's shocked, embarassed but he's decisive this time, of course he misconstrued the relationship, if she didn't reciprocate the feelings it had all been one-sided, pretty much non existent, a figment of his imagination.... they had always been friends-there was love but not the way he had percieved it. He was the foriegner who couldn't plead ignorance like a tourist because he was expected to learn the language fluently which is where Tamana came-an angel to guide him! A colleague who had saved him from being suspended..he accepted it, from now on FRIENDS ONLY.
Yet how many situations does it take-religiously god gives the opportunities for you to comprehend your soulmate and otherwise its all about chemistry!
Dia invites all the team to her party, but even in the crowd Tamana feels isolated-her eyes scan the room back and forth, she may have missed him the first couple of times...why was everyone looking at her, amused? She composes herself and she suddenly hears everyone call him over, greeting him. She looks up and his face alone is reason for her to smile automatically...avoiding everyone's eyesight he looks directly at her, acknowledging each other's presence.
For Sid, Tamana's drunkenness came as a godsend, finally he could get her to confess...but first he really needed her to stop talking! Commencing with questions and accusations...but concluding with a hug ..wow. He knew they were meant to be together...so why didn't she agree? The drink clearly kicked in and being a gentleman he was inclined to take her home...any other day any other time, walking would have been the equivalent to a death sentence. A walk that took an hour compared to his imported bright yellow car the speeding machine would have got her home in just over 5 minutes if that! The choice was obvious, but he still found himself struggling to say no to her...and she knew he liked her...he admitted it. Now it was just a case of getting her to admit her feelings, drunk or sober!
She sat there on the park bench, the same wind blowing her hair, the world seemed almost perfect...just Sid and Tamana...but their relationship? The question pained him, he needed her...and she him? and she him!...didn't she? First to fewer the distances; he sits beside her deciding to try a different approach, he catches her eye, which they say "are the windows to the soul"....no lies now. The truth would come out today, he had nothing to lose..."Don't marry Aniket" an unequivocal request. She's puzzled "Why?", is it the drink or a genuine invitation for him to confess his love? He takes a hold of her hand, almost immediately he can feel sparks between their touch, and places it on his thudding heart, even more so as she gets drawn towards him. She agrees, "Yes, my heart is beating rapidly too, as if theres something between your heart and mine..". He finishes, " a connection"....she hapily concurs. And there it was the perfect moment, "You won't forget this tomorrow will you Tamana?" she playfully says "And what if I do...?" And its even more painful than before, its true he doesn't want her to forget, how to remind her? He grabs the rose he presented to her, symbolising his love, her beauty and cuts her across the hand. He looks at the tears forming in her eyes, but where there's love there's pain too. And he wants her to experience the suffering he hasbeen through-sitting there looking at each other with hurt; Sid's anguish over what tomorrow will bring, and Tamana over what has just happened.
Fast forward and we find ourselves at the airport. Tamana's departure, leaving behind her ayi-baba, the children at the chawl, Sanjeevani, fellow interns, colleagues and friends, Naina, Yuvi, JP and Jiggy....and her best friend Sid. Best friend? Then what was all that about before? Her confession? She admitted there was something between them, how could she just ignore it all in a split second? Sid finds himself following her there with the same questions in his mind...she can't leave when it was she for whom he stayed behind himself! It was so selfish of her, he sacrificed his life in Houston his friends his lifestyle and even became a temporary next door neighbour to her to acknowledge her way of life... look how the tables had turned SHE was going to Canada?! Not possible...she had become an important aspect of her life, work would not be the same, his friends would not be the same..he would not be the same. "You don't love me" she'd said. It was one thing for her to refuse his proposal but on the other hand to brand him a liar, he wasn't a child, no matter how much she tried to impose that on him. He could make his own decisions and understand his feelings for her, it was just a way to make it easier for him to forget her..but that was impossible now he was in too deep. She gestures to him, "keep smiling" and a goodbye gift and she turns to leave...walking...walking...walking...and then she stops.
He knew it, he knew she'd return to him, he opens his arms contemplating a lover's reunion, that hug which would fill the hole in his chest. She stops an inch before him and drops to the ground picking up a ring, she sheepishly grins, "sorry it had fallen off"....He thinks-you have got to be KIDDING ME?!
And that was it, she was gone, a final wave, only the gift he holds in his hand accounting to materialistic evidence that she had been standing there, that he had actually met her, that she actually existed. That they had just separated from one another....
=> Hope you guys liked it! Please do comment, the concept of the post came to mind after I decided to watch "Sid-Tamana" scenes on youtube, their chemistry is absolutely incredible! The purpose of the post was to contest the idea by the CVs that Tamana doesn't love Sid though everything especially their last couple of weeks together hinted towards it! I actually miss them BOTH together so much and the realisation only hit me after watching the two together! Atleast the CV's have provided the option of Tamana coming back seen as she's only "gone to see Canada" but she'll only marry Aniket once back in town yes??! All good!
Ciao! x
