The next morning, Padma & Sushma are preparing breakfast, and Jyoti enters the room. Padma leaves w/ Deepu's tea, and KK remarks that the nawab is being tended to, and tells Padma not to put Deepu on a pedestal. Padma retorts that he's not saying it to the person who needs to be told that (who, Jyoti?) She asks who's responsible for Deepu's situation (had Jyoti not been there, would she have blamed Sushma?) KK challenges her on what she wants to say, but Padma tells him that she wasn't trying to say anything, and tells him not to admonish Deepu, in case he goes over the edge (he was doing fine until everybody started pressurizing him to marry). Jyoti gives Sushma some potatoes, and chooses to peel some peas so that they can make aloo-matar.
Padma comes back and tells her that it's not necessary. Jyoti tells her that she thought of helping, but Padma tells her that it's not needed, and to go ahead wherever she was going. She asks Jyoti to ask some advance from Bhagya dada,😡😡 but Jyoti tells her that she's not going there today, it'll be tomorrow. Padma demands to know why, and Jyoti tells her that she has something else. Padma demands to know what it is that's taken priority over her job, and Jyoti asks her why is she bringing up the question of money? Padma tells her that when she is going out in this condition, her family needs to know. Jyoti tries to assure her that she can take care of herself. Padma adds that when Jyoti goes out, people in the locality can assume and say anything. Jyoti asks her to trust her, instead of those people. She'll take care of herself.
Jyoti is off on her scooter, and on the way, she stops and takes of her helmet and re-adjusts her headgear. Looking across the road, she sees Pankaj waving his stick and trying to cross. She runs across the road, grabs him by the arm, and Pankaj demands to know who it is. Jyoti remains silent, and just holds on to his arm, takes him and crosses the road. After crossing, Pankaj pulls away his arm, demands to know who it is and guesses it is Jyoti (wouldn't that be obvious - why would anybody other than Jyoti be silent - s/he would just identify her/himself and go on). He tells her that he hasn't forgotten her touch. Jyoti turns and walks away, and Pankaj demands to know why she ain't saying anything (how about the small detail that you ain't remotely thankful to her for helping you across?) He then tells the empty surrounding, while addressing Jyoti, on how dare she touch him, and whether she thought that w/o her help, he can't cross a road? Ram Singh, his driver, comes up to him and asks him why he crossed the road alone, since he was on his way and who is he talking with? Pankaj asks him who is around, and Ram Singh looks, but doesn't see Jyoti (and apparently didn't see Jyoti take Pankaj across). He tells Pankaj that there is nobody there aside from them. Ram Singh complains that Pankaj shouldn't have crossed alone - what if something happened to him? Pankaj asks angrily - so what, the world doesn't wait for anyone, everybody goes their own way, and so will he. From a distance, Jyoti overhears this and is saddened. 😭😭
Back at home, Padma & Sushma are cooking, and Padma tells her that the food is all cooked, and to just go ahead and have her meal. Sushma asks her to set aside some food for Jyoti, and Padma tells her that she must have eaten out, since she'll start working. Sushma protests, but Padma tells her that since Jyoti didn't tell them where she was going or when she'll be back, she can't be responsible, and adds where do they keep all this, since they don't have a fridge? She is miffed that Jyoti couldn't tell her where she was headed. She tells her that when Jyoti returns, she'll make something for herself. 😲😡 Sushma is horrified.
Jyoti arrives at a cyber cafe. Pankaj's words echo in her mind, disturbing her, but ultimately, she gets to the job at hand - browsing the internet (no, she is not perusing this forum 😉😉) She takes out a notepad and copies some of the stuff she sees (dear, ever heard of a print-out? You could have printed out that page for less than Rs 2, w/o reducing the #peas in Padma's aloo-mattar😆😆) She then (presumably) logs out 😉😆
Jyoti arrives at the home of one Mr Mahesh Trivedi, and rings the bell. A lady opens it, and Jyoti asks whether she can enter? The lady asks why, but Jyoti assures her that she's not there to sell anything. The lady's husband comes to the door and invites her in. He asks her what's bothering her, and that he'd be happy to help if he can. Jyoti assures him that she's not there for help, but would like some time. They agree, and Jyoti asks them if they are familiar w/ the Vashisth family? They say that they are, although they've never met them, and Jyoti tells them that she's the bahu of that family. She tells them that due to some circumstances, she's separated from that family. Her younger sister Sudha too is married into that family, and is still happily married there. Jyoti says that she currently stays w/ her parents, and is pregnant as well. So is her youngest sister Sushma, who too lives at home. Her husband used to beat her a lot, forcing them to go to the cops, and now he is in jail. Mr Trivedi asks her why she's telling them all that, and Jyoti tells him that she also has a brother Sandeep. She came to them w/ a rishta for their daughter.
The Trivedis are stunned, and Jyoti tells them that she thought that before proposing this, she ought to tell them all about herself and her family. 👏👏👏 She understands that no family would want to send their daughters to a family whose situation is like theirs. She works, and Sandeep works in a courier company as a manager. She tells them that after reading on the internet about them, she thought that they might understand their situation (Why? What do the Trivedis have, that would make them uniquely different from other people seen so far?) She also tells them that her brother is not responsible for her maintenance. She can tell them this much - her family would put their daughter on a pedestal, if this went forward.
Mr Trivedi tells her that it takes a lot of courage to come out w/ all the truths that she just narrated to them. There are very few honest people like her. He trusts that he'd be very happy meeting her family. However... (and there is a long pause, making Jyoti really tense 😆😆)... they cannot make the decision on behalf of their daughter, that decision needs to be hers 👏👏👏 (This is the best family in this serial I've come across so far). However, if their daughter and her bro meet each other and like each other, they have no objections - and he asks his wife Prabha to affirm that. 👏👏👏 Jyoti is very relieved, and smiles.
Back at home, after Jyoti's told them everything, Padma asks her how she sent Deepu alone to see that girl? She also wonders what sort of parents are those who w/o seeing them or their house just sent their daughter to meet him? Padma questions Dadi about what sort of people they might be, and Dadi tells them they are 'murdern' (this scene is funny, where Dadi mixes up the words 'murder' when she means to say 'modern' 🤣🤣) and tells her that there is nothing wrong w/ it, since it's those 2 who'll have to live their own life. KK jokes to Padma that Dadi is more 'modern' than she is. 🤣
Deepu is waiting at an open air restaurant, looking out for the Trivedi girl. A girl gets down from an auto, and Deepu is straining to see her. However, he gets interrupted by a waiter, who asks him what he'd like to order. Irritated, he asks him to wait. He momentarily loses her, but then sees her profile as she is outside walking past. He sees her going so far that finally, he gets up from his table and goes in her direction, and pretends to bump into her. The girl smiles, and he introduces himself. Both of them gaze at each other for a while before they introduce themselves. She is Poonam Trivedi, and he is Sandeep Sharma.
They are both seated at a table, and he asks her what she'd like to have, and she says anything. He jokes that it's not there, and after some back & forth, finally orders fruit punch, parle delite and honey cookies (so it's just a snack?) She tells him that fruit punch is her favorite. He tells her that when a girl decides to marry, she must have hundreds of questions, so he asks her to shoot away. She tells him that she doesn't know where to start. He starts by telling her that he has his mom, dad, dadi and 3 sisters. The eldest is Jyoti-didi, who is a great dancer. Poonam tells him that she knows all about his family, but she wants to know him. She asks him whether he's very close to his sisters, since he started by narrating about them. He tells her that he loves his siblings a lot. She tells him that she doesn't, and Deepu gets startled. She tells him that she has no siblings around, and Deepu laughs. She tells him she had, in fact has, a brother, w/ who she only has a relationship in name, which she doesn't acknowledge. She says that her parents raised him and had high hopes for him, but he disappointed them. He went abroad and settled, and initially called a lot, but nowadays, doesn't. This is probably why she doesn't place much value on relationships. Deepu tells her that if she met his folks, her faith in relationships would be restored. She denies that it would be that easy, saying that she can only believe what she is suffering.
She then perks up and tells him - why are they being upset talking about others? She knows that he's a good brother, and a good son. But she's not interested in all that, and it makes no difference - what she wants to know is that whether he could be a good husband?
Back at the Sharma home, they are waiting. Padma is very tense, and KK tells her that Jyoti must have considered things before sending them on the date. He tells her that since she called Jyoti responsible, the least she could do is trust her. Since she has gone through the trouble of finding this date... and Padma responds that as a sister, that she would do. Padma tells him that she's not worried at Jyoti, but at what Deepu might say, since he lacks tact on what to say and when. She just hopes that this one too doesn't...
Just then, Deepu opens the door and enters. He looks stunned, and Padma asks him what happened? He asks if she has Rs 100, and she asks him not to change the subject. Everyone looks at him in eager anticipation, and the scene ends on his face.
None today
My guess - they clicked it off - and Deepu probably had her home. I liked this girl, and think she's probably the one who they'll agree on. That would also mean that Panchi is out of the picture. Speaking for myself, I won't miss her - Deepu is a lot better off w/ Poonam and a supportive family, than w/ Panchi and her hostile dad.
I liked Manish & Prabha Trivedi today - finally, we get to see a normal family (unless Prabha turns out to be another wacko later). Finally, a family that's not hung up on the environment in the house, but is content to leave things to their kid. If only CM was that way w/ Uday & KK that way w/ Sudha... I also liked how Poonam was interested in Deepu, and not Sushma, Jyoti or Sudha.
Other comments - Padma is back to hating Jyoti as usual, not even letting Sushma cook for her. Bellyaching on her every move, and trying to milk her for cash like in the old days before her marriage. On the funny side, it was amusing to see how Dadi was more open to the girl being free to see Deepu than Padma was. What does Padma think - that she'll elope the way Sushma did?
Also, Jyoti & Pankaj - after a year, he still thinks Jyoti does all that b'cos she lacks confidence in his abilities to do things for himself, rather than out of a genuine desire to help him. I'm just 🤬 that she's carrying his baby.
