dhan-daulat, moh-mamta and other such things that bind one to earthlings and materialistic possessions are all considered "maya" --- an illusion. We can't take them with us when we die. Only thing that follows us to other life is our Karma.

I don't personally feel we need to fear God, if he's there, if you believe in him, that's reason enough not to fear anything. I don't know if he's all-forgiving, and all-nice, but all I know is, if I fear him, he would be an illusion, but since I believe in him, he's real, therefore I can't possibly fear him!

I agree with you. Why worry whether he is all-forgiving or not when he has blessed us to distinguish between right and wrong. If we make wrong choices then we should be afraid of our karm-phal than being afraid of God. I feel the force is non-interfering.
