DID is now becoming an insult on Dance.

Common people will not relate to what I am saying but of course Dance mavens like Terence, Geeta and Remo will understand my point of view.
Firstly for Geeta Kapur: The salsa that she choreographed was a good choreography but unfortuantely the dancer's footwork were not only worng but appalling. They were not tranferring the weight and the knees were bent. It looked aweful and very college level. If you dont know Salsa then please learn it or get experts to choreograph it for you. You cannot insult that dance form the way u did in yesterdays show. The Feet were not turned out the foot placement was wrong. Have you seen So you think you can dance? And if you have then i wonder how did u ever put up a performance like that. Its just putting our country down in front of Cubans and L.A. people. Dance is not just about performance its also about technique and quality of movements. Just beacuse Salsa is a Folk Dance you cannot change the basics.
On a positive side, the choreography had great potential to look stupendous if the technique was right.
Please make our country proud by giving a correct dance performance and take DID to international level. Its in your hands and you have a great responsibilty to do so. If you mess up then it will be too bad for Indian Dancers to represent India abroad.
Remo: He is smart and is doing a good job. Unfortunately he didnt really make Punit and his partner dance too much. What a waste! It looked more like weight lifting than dance too me. You can't just have a gr8 concept and no dance on a Dance show. Come on guys what are you doing? Show some quality and class to dance in India. There are dance experts watching this show and I am sorry to say that they are laughing. Its more like a comedy dance show. The first performance of Shashank and his partner was horrible. At so many places they were tottering and the transitions were not smooth. If you think that was contemporary then you will be heartbroken to know that the movements were not organic enough and they kept breaking. Why dont you rehearse properly before the show? Having said that I must say that his Technique is amazing, his leap jumps and suspensions are great. Thank God there are some trained dancers on the show. He knows the dance elements and his sense of centering, gravity and space is commendable. The lifts used in the piece were awesome.
Terence Lewis: Why aren't you giving the technical corrections on the show like last year. You know almost everything and have the required dance information. Why are you holding all that back. Its so obvious that you want to give Geeta's dancers some corrections but u didn't. Also why did you give shakti such a small TUTU. Her legs were looking funny from the front, esp. when she was just standing. And please stop making dancers hang on the show like jokers in circus. Show some more dance. We have seen ur arial acts and ur potential to do so in DID 1.
Shakti is the only dancer in the show who I think deserves to win the show. She is Sassy, Stylish, Technically trained, Gr8 performer and everything that is needed to represent India abroad after she wins. Please let a good dancer win this time and not good looks. Terence Lewis is the best choreographer on the show and that goes without saying. Besides, he is very stylish.
The reason I am being critical is not because I have any personal issues with anyone or I want to be scornful but because I want that DID reaches So you think you can dance level and that is only possible if the choreographers pull up their socks and creative heads stop making this show a family drama which is so bloody annoying. Make it a serious Dance show and promote dance like never before. May be get guest performers or guest choreographers to be on the show rather than a SALMAN KHAN who cant dance to even save his life and who has got nothing to do with dance.
Suggestions: Just before a break why dont you give some dance information to the audience and then take a break. It could be anything like for eg. Salsa originated in Cuba, or Martha Graham was the first dancer ever to perform in the white house, or the ballet dress is called TUTU, or anything about our India CLassical Dance forms. Any Dance Knowdlege will be appreciated by the audience and will set a standard for DID.
Remember you cannot fool all the peopla all the time. Audience has become smart and they can see the difference between good and bad. Just be true to your art and dont try something that is completely alien to you. For that get experts to assist you.
Best Regards,
A big Fan of Jack Cole.

Wow. Quite a long but interesting post.
I agree with some bits and not so much with others.
I think the overall idea of your post was that ALL 3 choreographers are pretty good and all have the potential to showcase amazing dances but there are a lot of technical problems in the dances right?
I think all 3 judges have some sort of drawback, some more than others lol but the whole process will take a long time to get all the dancers to perform flawlessly and to perfection. The reason for this is because some dancers are more trained than others.
Shakti has graduated from TLDA after getting a scholarship there and has been there for quite a few years. During this period I am sure she has not just done a few stage shows but got to meet very famous international choreographers and interact with them, take a few tips etc. As far as I know she has travelled around the world quite a bit too with TL and co. So this would explain her level of dancing compared to some others who might be more new to this than others so what she has been doing for years, they are tryin to learn in the space of few weeks so I think we should take that in to account. Ofcourse, the best of dancers learn very quickly but perfection is something very few manage to achieve.
I will however address your point on Terence and the criticism he gives. There is one really annoying thing about this show, and that is the editing. I remember reading a post on this forum by someone who saw the live show or the unedited version and she mentioned that his critical points that he gives are being conveniently cut out and that really sucks. The thing is, psychologically although we may not realise it, when the judges look at performances and criticise them then as a viewer we think "Oh, so they didn't perform that well then" and this affects voting patterns etc and Zee would want to avoid doing that at all costs and this leads to them conveniently cutting out the bits they don't want to show us. Woh kya kehte hain, editing ka funda. ;)
I really hope and pray that we find a deserving winner this time who can truly represent India and all we have to offer in terms of dance.
All I would say is give the dancers some time and some space. Give them the opportunity to grow and become great dancers. One does not become a great dancers within a week or two, it takes time and then a few weeks in to the show if they are still making the same mistakes they made in the earlier weeks then it will be easier to distinguish between the good, great and outstanding dancers.
All the best to them all and I hope they all continue to give great performances.

You cant be so critical, DID will reach heights, its a process and every process cant be perfect from the start. Atleast they are better than other dance shows on indian television.

Jack Cole posts makes sense, even a non-dancer can spot mistakes like arms and leg not correct or the flow or coordination not right. I think a lot of the contestants have only danced in the bollywood style. Non of them have ever taken much serious training in jazz or other form. Some of the girls have taken classical training and that can reflect in their hands movements, foot coordinations. This season Shakti shows a lot of promise. It is hard in a week to master any dance form, so performance are going to be faulty.

Criticism can be the biggest boost for anyone serious about dancing...after all you learn from mistakes. If you don't tell someone what was wrong than how will they improve.

As for getting this show to International level will require a lot of work on part of the choreographers and the contestants...after all hard work shows result.

I agree. I didnt watch all performances, but i thought Nikkitasha and her partner (sorry forgot his name). was NOT EVEN A DANCE! he was just lifting her around and didnt look smooth AT ALL!
Shakti-Kunwar dance was cute but 75% of the time, they were just hanging off the ropes! 😕
And the 'salsa' of Geeta's gang was decent but it looked like it had been arranged in a day 😕
The best performance award was given by mithun only to please Geeta and make up for last week. (even though i dont know who deserves that award better)
And at the end, they should stop Jay's fun-making by the judges, and random Kit-Kat advertisement 😕 😆

WOW I loved Nikita shah's performance in the Saturday episode. She did classical and I thought that it was brilliantly performed. Its a slap on Indian as a girl who lives abroad did classical dance on the show with so much elegance and pride. Its high time that all the parents start sending their children for classical training right away before it dies amid all the international styles that are taking root in India..
Even the girl who did O re Piya from Geeta's team was fabulous. Amazing choreography by Geeta I must say. If this is her strength then she should do more of Indian rather than trying foreign styles.
Even the elimination decision taken by Mithun Da was perfect. I think todays episode was interesting. The girl from Terence team who got eliminated did a horrible job. It was a lousy attempt from her side. Nonetheless, she has recently learned contemporary and has no training background so its understandable. But it was the choreographers fault for giving her something thats not her strength. Poor girl had to suffer!
