In my opinion, Shahid was the best thing in the whole film! Cuz of him I wanna watch it again! His performance was so much better than in KiKo and DBH! I also liked this film better than those two other ones! If the story had been good I think this film could have done well! They just chose the wrong concept!
And KiKo's good opening was largely due to sympathy for Shahid I think! Cuz it was his first film after JWM and cuz of the Vidya thing!

This movie was very average, nothing special.
Everything was really just average. The storyline was predictable. The songs got kind of annoying and came in at very random moments, the only decent one was Pal Mein Hi. I really didn't like the choreography in the songs, it was boring; Shahid usually dances with so much energy and just so well that the dances in the movie came as a disappointment. Shahid was pretty good overall, nothing amazing but he wasn't bad either. I really liked Genelia though! There was just something about her in the movie that made me look forward to her scenes. The plot was messy, it went from struggler, to Shahid getting turned down, to the school, then back to struggling hero, and then to, of course, the superstar.
I would say the best part of this movie was the smaller parts. The way Shahid has his little one-room home and later his car, because of which he sneaks into the school bathroom. The kids sharing their lunches with Shahid... just stuff like that.
If you find yourself in my position, bored at a cousin's house who has a cheap copy, then go for it. I wouldn't recommend spending money on watching it in the theater though. Its a decent time-filler, good to use as background noise and glance at once in a while when you're woking on something.

ok guys....this film HAS BEEN a huge dismal...not just the film...everything...the music ...none of the song has managed to do well...and i am talking about the business point of view...ppl thinks tht just becoz songs played on radio stations are considered hit, thats wrong...the music sales of CPD...have been dismisal...and note...kaminey n DBH's music did well so music is very important for catching eye attention...but it has failed.. and the song 'pal mein hi'...mine what a lousy number and such horrible lyrics adding to it..adnan sami should get a life.
one line keeps repeating through out the song...'tere aajane se, tere aajane se' i wonder what he will do...jump from the terrace?? 🤔gosh
and coming back to pair shahid and genelia, so genelia's pair is best with imran...no one can beat it. even though shahid's pair with fardeen has been more successful than with shahid coz life partner did well than CPD at BO. 😆
besides even if u have seen this stuff already in FASHION AND VICTORY....why u will waste ur money? what was shahid thinking when signed this movie...tht ppl will buy tickets for his dancing...he should do better live perfomances for tht...it can earn more than CPD

Chance Pe Dance (Hindi)

Nothing to tango about

Creative Quotient
Sameer Behl (Shahid Kapoor), son of a merchant, is trying his best for over three years to make it big in films. He is a fab dancer

, possesses eight-pack abs and is - according to his buddy Tina (Genelia D'Souza) - a brilliant actor. Sameer misses chances everytime by a hairsbreadth, and that includes the really major break from Rajeev Sharma (Mohnish Behl), a big-name producer, who signs him on a handshake that he says is as good as a contract. Soon, Sameer's dreams are shattered when Rajeev decides to hold a contest instead. Tina, who has quit a choreography contract with Rajeev under protest, eggs Sameer to audition. No prizes for guessing the end. Technical Expertise
Ken Ghosh's and Nupur Asthana's screenplay is the weakest part of the film when it should have been the strongest element, given the fact that the basic story is as old as the hills. The dialogues (is there a significance in the fact that the script credits are not there on the official website in the Cast & Crew section?) are no better. What scores are a few early sequences where Shahid cooks toast with a clothes- iron and is gypped by his parasitic friend (Vikas Bhalla), though Sameer comes across as silly and gullible. After the first 15 minutes boredom sets in, never to go away with the sheer predictability and absurdities in the script, like in the overlong school sequence. Sameer owns a second-hand car but cannot pay rent for his flat. And afterwards when he is thrown out, does a man who walks around with more than Rs 2000 in his pocket not have savings to rent a room or eat??? On the performance side, Shahid and Genelia are sincere, but honestly, why is Shahid choosing the wrong films of late? The dances are little better than gymnastic moves, and the music is plain awful given the music-cum-dance base. The technical side is just adequate.

Verdict
Just one star for Shahid's sincerity even in this woeful waste of celluloid.
