In a way they wer both compelled, Voldemort became the way he did because he never had love of parents, so he grew up no knowing what love was and therefore did what he did.
Harry didnt ask voldemort to kill his parents or for his mum to sacrifice her self so he could live, and i think that anybody knowing that someone killed there parents would want revenge.

i luv the harry potter books and all one thing i do hate is though, one minute Snape is bad and wer made to hate him, then he is good spiying of the order of the pheonix, then he is baad again for doing dumbledore in, then right at the end it turns out actually he was a really good guy.
