Why do people pretend to be best buds with celebs?

The only two people who come to my mind when I think of sane fans are Tpam (Amu) and Pksanam (Sanam ji).
I've been on both sides now, been on the crazy fangirl side and the been on the side who hates fangirls, and honestly we're all equally crazy. Lol.

When it becomes destructive to people around you, then it's dangerous. I don't want to bring personal issues here, but it saddens me that people discard friendships because someone dared to criticize your favorite.

Seriously, what do people do when that situation arises in real life? Do you ditch that friend? Maybe that's why most fangirls pretend to be best friends with the stars.

But talking about people who are actual fans and support their favorites, I don't think they necessarily act as "best buds." Yes, there are some who claim to know their favorites personally (as in actually meeting them), but most of them "know" through interviews and such. And when they know information about their favorites, they're obviously going to share it. What fun is knowing when you can't tell others?

This thread isn't about sharing information. When you act like you know them intimately and claim to know their innermost thoughts, that sounds creepy to me. 'So and so would never do that. I know so and so. Besides, so and so is like this, rather than that'... like you know them personally. Please.

is this topic only about bollywood celebs?😉 i think its a common phenomenon among the fan group to be so defensive and protective about their favourites!

lol..i think its more of a 'status' issue for the fans to say that i know this person..he/she is so pure like 24k gold...iam not a fan of any particular star..to me being a fan means a very responsible task!😛..you have to keep yourselves updated about what they do in their daily lives..whom all they meet..where all they go..and again i have to fight with anti fans to prove myself right all time..and i feel iam not capable enough for that!😆
