More than the silver screen, it is the small screen that has made in-roads in our daily life. So it came as a surprise that television didn't pay much attention to one of the biggest events that shook Mumbai and the rest of the country — November 26, 2008 at the time it happened. Films and theatre, naturally, got inspired and planned out movies and plays that showed the horrific events of the four days that the terrorists attacked the Taj Hotel, Nariman House and CST station. Even the art world paid tributes to the martyrs by having exhibitions depicting the same. But this year, on the first anniversary of 26/11, the small screen seems to be making some effort to depict the
fateful day.
By and large, most channels aren't doing anything special for the first anniversary of 26/11 but producer Asit Modi has weaved in a little speech made by his protagonist in the show
Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma. It will be aired tonight on Sab TV. "The characters in our show belong to ordinary middle class and whatever happens in Mumbai impacts them. So we have shown them having a society meeting where they remember those who passed away in the attacks," says Asit.
