Priety, a true combo of guts & glory, say

Karan Johar talks about his dear friend Preity Zinta on the occasion of her 31st birthday.

"I have worked with Preity in two films, 'Kal Ho Na Ho' and now 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'. The first thing that strikes anyone about the girl is her off-screen presence. She is so full of beans and life. She is hilarious. When she narrates an incident, she is so animated about it that one keeps laughing through it. She is an absolute comedian. Very rarely do you see Preity low. She is always high on energy and that's the best thing about her.

One thing that not many know about Preity is that even though she comes across as this exceptionally modern girl, she is extremely traditional at heart. She may have a Western exterior, but she gets scandalised by things very easily. This comes as a surprise the first time because you would expect her to be ultra-modern in her outlook. The traditional bit might be largely because of her upbringing.

I respect Preity immensely because she is one girl who knows her mind. She has made it on her own terms. Though she started her career with a small role in 'Dil Se', she made a huge impact. After that, she chose a gutsy topic like 'Kya Kehna'. She has always been very brave in her decisions. She has the courage of conviction, both personally and professionally. She is not afraid of standing her ground, no matter what. I think she is the true combination of guts and glory.

People say she talks too much. I really don't think so. I would prefer her talking too much than not talking at all. How can we be entertained otherwise? I just hope people let her talk because that's what makes her what she is.
