Mayur One Shot-Tied Together With A Smile
I looked into the mirror.Not at my heart-shaped face,not at the chocolate brown eyes and not even at my pink lips(Description given by Mayank Sharma).I stared longingly at the necklace hanging from my neck.I remembered how longingly he was looking at me while leaving.At that time I had to be strong for him.For us.But now I couldn't control my tears anymore.I fell over my bed and started crying.I wanted to break down so that i'd feel lighter.I never wanted Mayank to leave,but I knew his responsibility towards his mother.Just then I saw our photo from the corner of my eye.It was the photo of our first date.A smile crept up on my face,at the same time a teardrop fell on his smile.I remembered his smile.It was the most heavenly addiction for girls,especially me.
*Flashback*
"Nupur,What do you like in me the most?"
"Hmm.....That's a difficult question,You want to know the truth or a lie will do?"
Mayank retorted. "Of course,Truth!You know I hate lies!"
"Yeah,Yeah,Mr.Harishchandra,I know.So the best thing about you.....",I said tauntingly.
"What is it?",he asked impatiently.
"Nothing.You are just a boring nerd.",I said in a blunt tone.
His face turned red with anger ."What?Is that what you think of me?I'm leaving right now."
"Mayank,wait!" I rushed towards him and took his hand.I intertwined my fingers with his.
I went near his ear and whispered,"It's your smile.Your Million-watt flashing smile."
His expression changed from a frown into a smile.He said naughtily,"Oh,so that's what made you fall for me!"
"Yah,and your horrible sense of humour!"
"Nupur!"
I started laughing uncontrollably. He smiled at me.He looked happy to see me smiling.Suddenly he came closed to me and said,"You know,there's only one thing similar between us."
"And what's that?"
"We both fell for each other's smile."
I said sarcastically,"Yah,it's like 'we are tied together with a smile'!"
"Yes,we are."
*Flashback ends*
I wiped the tear off the picture and took a look at his smile again.How I wished I could see it again.I said aloud,"I wish you were here,Mayank.I wish you were.I can't take it all by myself.To top it all,Bui has sent this Babloo.And his real name has a 'Raj' in it."
"But your real Raj doesn't need to have one in his,does he?"
I turned around.All I could see,or rather wanted to see was his smile.And I saw it quite clearly.It was Mayank.He spread out his arms and all I wanted to do is run into them.I wrapped my arms around him,and was so lost,I wouldn't even find out the world would be crashing down.
"Nupur,first wipe your tears.Where is that smile that I fell for?",he spoke in his soft voice,gently soothing my ears.
"It's with you Mayank.You took it away to Bangalore."
"And that's what I've come to give back.I'm staying in Mumbai now."
I opened my mouth and stared at him,blinking my eyes in stupid surprise.
"Yes,I am."
I needn't say a word more.I pulled him in my arms and hugged him as tightly as I could.I never wanted to let go of him ever again.He was mine and only mine.
"Aren't you being too posessive?I mean,let the air at least touch me!",He said,laughing at his own joke.
I laughed,but still didn't let hold of him.I felt safe in his arms.
"Mayank,you were right."
"About what?"
"Remember you said 'we are tied together with a smile' and I laughed about it as a joke?"
"Yes?"
"Now I understood that I can really never live without your smile and neither can you."
"And I can't smile without you."
I was about to speak when He placed his hand on my lips before I could say something.He placed his hand on my waist and dragged me towards him"So lets seal this smile."before He could do anything else,I put a pillow before his face."You!"He shouted,removing the feathers from his mouth.He started running after me,and I started escaping.We spent the whole night running after each other.At the end,we were puffing and panting,sitting on the sofa.I looked at him.He looked tired,but still put up one of his best smiles.I smiled back.I placed my head on his chest and closed my eye.He wrapped his arms around me and closed his eyes too.Our smiles never vanished.Till the next morning we had them on our face.They say a smile makes two people more closer.Now I know how.After all ,we were tied together with a smile.
