I am also more towards male voice.....specially for ghazals....Jagjit Singh, Ghulam Ali and needless to mention Rafi Saheb. Also I like male chorus more than female ones. ' suno to ganga yeh kya sunaye' from Ram Teri Ganga Maili.

Its hard for me to make a choice between male and female voices. It depends on the song, the composition, the mood and occasion. Some songs suit male voices better and some female.

However, withing voices - I prefer male voices that are smooth and silky. I do not like deep baritones. I'm a fan of well executed male falsettos. It takes a skilled voice for a tuneful soulful falsetto.

I like female voices that have that have a sexy husky quality. In the female voices, I cannot stand high operatic notes and pitches. I love it when the female voice can belt out a power ballad, hold a note or have that quiver.

I'd prefer the male voice to a high pitch female. Similarly, I'd pick female voice over deep baritone male. I'd most likely pick female over male coarseness.

aslo rafisaabs voice had so much flexibility.. it could be totally masculine like khilona and teri bindiya re and the same time he could sing in a femine style without sounding feminine! that is a unique quality of him.. to be fair this is the only thing sonu has accomplished in the rafi-meter
