I totally understand that male and female voices can not be compared - each is unique in it's own way...however because the contests are based on male vs female voices rather than just male voice or a female voice competiton - I thought I start this topic to discuss what your general preferance is when you listen to songs...do you prefer male voice over female voice (lets say a song was made in both male and female version)

I think my preference depends highly on how the song sounds in different voices also how well the singer express the mood and lyrics in meaningful sense.

Concerning this LC I prefer boys over girls...boys were stronger in singing this time 😃

personally I love male voices more on an average and mohd rafi in particular is my favourite, coz till date i dont have any complaints abt his voice.

but as u say its all abt personal taste. there are ppl as crazy over latas voice as i am over rafis.

anyway, interesting to note, in the stardust and hero honda magazine poll, the best female singer of the millenium went to lata with 45% votes, obviously the remaining 55% ppl liked other female singers.

And mohammed rafi won best male singer of the millenium with 70% of the votes.

This probably implies people like female voices more as so many female singers got a share.

Some how always have prefered male voice over female voices. Though love Begum Akhtar ghazals, as I grew up hearing that because my father is an avid fan of her singing, generally I prefered hearing Mehdi Hassan Saheb more.

In reality shows also, I have noticed I tend to enjoy more male voices over female voices, not that I don't find female singers great. Nihira Joshi, Himani, Sumedha, Priyanka Maliya, Smita Nandi etc are awesome singers,

When I hear sad songs, I love the male versions to female versions.

One of the songs...jaane tu meri kya hai (From movie Jaane to ya Jaane na) I love the rendition of Sukhiwnder over the female version.

I don't know I find this depth in male voices.

There isn't a definate fav for me i like both sometimes male voice suits other times a female voice is better

Generally a male will find a female voice more sexy and vice versa. Of course in talking about enjoying a song either voice is fine. There are many songs which have been sung by both sexes and both are equally good depending on the calibre of singers used.

Males like male voice because they feel as if they are singing in that voice. Males by nature are dominant creatures and want the domninant role(to be singing) Females like male voice because they feel the guy is singing for them(female like the passive role). Both ways male voice will be appreciated in most cases. Just an opinion. .

Most of my favorite singers are Male like Kishore, Sukhwinder, Nusrate Fateh Ali Khan, Pandit Jasraj and last but not the least Kailash Kher. I never thought of male vs female but now you borught up looks like I'm totally for men.

i prefer male voices......my all time fave is the great Sonu nigam........than comes Shaan, KK, Udit, and Adnan sami..........they all rock....in competitions i tend to like the males too......in lil champs this year....i liked yashodhan, abhijeet, yatharth and of course abhigyan and my all time fave hemant......lol...

Nice topic Zahida Di.

I always have listen to both version.

I loved Jaspinder Narula voice.Her high range and low range voice quality are very powerful.I listen to her when she was competing in NDTV show with other singers like richa sharma,Babul supriyo,Anaida,and many more and she won.The show was judged by Shankar ji, Prashoon Joshi.

Even Richa sharma has awesome voice.Actually I go for singing and music both which able to touch my heart .It can be male or female.
