Robert Pattinson's Twilight character is 'favourite vampire'
Twilight star Robert Pattinson's character Edward Cullen has been voted the favourite movie vampire.
Pattinson, 23, gained 38% of votes in the survey of more than 3,000 cinema-goers, ahead of the the follow-up to the modern-day thriller, New Moon, which hits cinemas next month.
Christopher Lee's chilling portrayal of Dracula came second, with 15% of the vote going to the star of the 1958 Hammer Horror film.
The online poll was conducted by Pearl and Dean at www.pearlanddean.com.
Kathryn Jacob, chief executive of Pearl and Dean, said: ''People love to be scared witless, particularly at this time of year.
''And Edward Cullen being voted firm favourite movie vampire is testament to the fact that people still enjoy a good bloodsucker.''
Max Schreck's portrayal of skeletal Graf Orlok in the atmospheric, silent masterpiece Nosferatu, one of the best-known screen representations of a vampire, came ninth.
His ranking for the 1922 film shows film-goers enduring fascination with the undead.
Kiefer Sutherland's role in tongue-in-cheek 1987 teen fantasy flick The Lost Boys came seventh.
