Sharman Joshi was a gleaming name in Bollywood with his debut film 'Godmother'. He carried it along with another entertaining performance in 'Style'. But after that, it's sequel 'Excuse Me' drowned and so did his last 'Shaadi No.1'. With the fair amount of success and failure, Sharman is going steady with his career and is the man of the hour starring in the much anticipated film of Rakeysh Mehra 'Rang De Basanti'. Sharman Joshi is ready to take the flight and add a spark to his unnoticed career profile!

Excerpts from the Interview:

How would you describe your film career in brief?

From Godmother to Rang De Basanti, I've believed in doing roles that would excite me. And exciting offers don't pour on your lap always. I would say that I'm happy with the handful films I've done. From then to now, I've also matured as an actor.

What does Rang De Basanti mean to you?

This is a very special film and the role is very close to my heart. I'm proud of being a part of such an ambitious project.

What is your character in the film?

Among the bunch of five friends I've a significant role to play. My character is called Sukhwinder and my friends call me Sukhi. He is a jat from Haryana who comes to Delhi University for further studies. Though his parents are much against it, he manages. Here he comes across the gang of friends. He adds to the fun factor and cheer among the boys with no grudges against anyone. Catch him the best living life to the fullest and playing around to make you laugh.

How did you bag the role in the film?

I went to Rakeysh Mehra and met him and we had a long meeting together. He then called me for the audition of the film. I got through and bagged the role.

Is there insecurity for appearing insignificant in a multi starrer film?

There is no worry as such for me. I stress to see how I'm working and focus more on my work than anything else. When I'm a part of a film, it is my film and I have to work on my character well. There is no use paying heed to what others are doing. If there is insecurity it'll hamper my performance more than anything else.

How did you feel working with Rakeysh Mehra?

He is different and special and the experience of working with him was really great. There was work and fun going together on the sets and he stressed that it was important. This made working easy and you could deliver your performance with ease. He said me to have fun because many a times I appear technical and this rips off the entertaining factor from your performance.

How did you feel working with Aamir Khan?

To share the screen frame with an actor like Aamir Khan is an achievement of sorts. Such chance don't come knocking on your door always. I'm just awed by him and respect him with all my heart. I was very nervous initially but the workshops eased me a lot. Thanks to Aamir who doesn't care about his stature and makes you feel very comfortable.

How was it working with others?

We got along very well from the very first day. Siddharth, Kunal, Atul, Alice, Soha and me turned good friends. Even before we hit the sets we were already sharing a very good rapport. For a film reeling about friendship its necessary to transport that sort of relation on the screen. I really enjoyed working with all of them.

What are the other films that you've signed?

I'm currently working on director Rohit Shetty's 'Golmaal'. The film will release in August. Other than me there are Ajay Devgan, Arshar Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Rimmi Sen in the film.
