In the later half of this decade he has acted with stars like Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra. Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta but his luck seems to make no turn whoever his leading lady is. Although his staunch fans might not agree to the fact, he is no comparison to Aamir and Shahrukh when it comes to Box Office performance these days. What's more stars like Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor seems to be more bankable than Salman at present.
Another reason why Salman hasn't been able to repeat the success of the 90s in the recent years is due to the fact that he hasn't experimented with his acting. Unlike his biggest competitors Aamir and Shahrukh who have experimented with their acting doing varied roles Salman has stuck to the romance and masala formula of the 90s. The Bollywood audience which has starkly changed in the last decade or so doesn't seem to connect with his movies any more.
Too much of on-screen and off-screen appearance also seems to have hurt his career. Where actors of his stature do only a couple of movies a year, Salman appears in hordes of movies denying him the exclusivity factor. Salman who is very loyal to his friends and fellow actors makes too many guest appearance in movies which takes a toll on his superstar status. With London Dreams releasing later this month it might prove to be a make or break movie for Salman Khan's superstar status.
