Alright, now here is something to ponder about for all of you about Archana and Manav's family...
It amazes me how Archana's family is always crying about money, whereas in reality they are quite well off in comparison to Manav's family. In his family, he is the sole earner, and of course thinks about things like his sister's and Sachin's education, family budget etc. But that has never ever been shown as a point of worry in their house... they never cringe and cry about these things... he manages the house single handedly by working hard for the family, and they are a contented lot. Even when they have additional expenses, they overcome them without making an issue of them,
For example:
1.) The necklace issue
Soln- Manav quietly takes a loan from his boss and resolves to pay it back in two months by working overtime.
2.) Manav wants to give a gift to archana on her bidaai, but doesn't have money...
Soln- Instead of moping, he works overtime and gives her a special gift..
3.) After marriage, Manav takes Archana out for movies, pav bhaji etc....
Result: OK, Aai does taunt Archana but that was mainly cos she was pissed off with her..
4.) Satyanarayan puja
Soln: They organise the puja by themselves, instead of caterer, savita tells Archana to cook for 25 people- very practical, nothing wrong. Initially Savita grumbles cos of expenses, but does not do anything to stop the puja and organises it.
5.) Honeymoon expenses, taking a week off from work
Result: Kaka says please your wife if you want goddess lakshmi to come into your house, others too support him, savita is pissed off for obvious reasons..!
6.) When Manav takes Archana for their first date after their engagement, Aai and Tarun encourage Manav to use all his savings to make Archana happy, and Manav too happily agrees and takes Archana to a posh restaurant that only people like Satish could afford.
The only person in Manav's house who is an exception is Savita, but she is merely greedy, even she doesn't keep moping or worrying about managing the house... and she only fought for matters like jewellery for dowry reasons.. and more so to harass her in laws.
But in Archana's house the situation is completely different. I just cant remember how many financial problems they have faced since the beginning of the show... that too despite having three working and one pensioned member.
1.) Gift for ajit, Sulochana and Varsha have a huge fight over money matters and everybody cries.
2.) Archana's wedding: they worry about expenses and all ( despite having savings) whereas the groom (manav) looks and dresses up like a prince even though he's got no savings, same goes for the rest of the family.
3.) When Archana comes back after the big sathyanarayan puja fiasco, manjusha grumbles that one more person means ADDITIONAL EXPENSES, ( for god sake, how much does Archana eat???) and not even Vinod or aai point this thing to her that they earn enough to manage the house, all they say is, don't say this about archana.
4.) Archana doesn't want an expensive saree from her aai, but in Manav's house she never had to think about such expenses, in fact she never thought about money at all...there she happily accepted whatever he gifted her, without thinking how he gifted her so much...
let's see- ever since she went to his house, he has gifted her a saree, silver bangles, taken her out for pav bhaji and movies a number of times, not to forget the mahabaleshwar trip. The only time she felt bad was during the necklace issue.
5.) When Varshu leaves the house, everyone becomes budget conscious- hello! Wasn't it shown in the early episodes that the house ran only on Vinod's income and Varsha's income was used only for making jewellery for the three sisters? Then why cry for money now?
6.) Again in today's episode, when they learn that the pension isn't going to come they all immediately become worried. Vinod is well educated and in a good job, yet he can't run the house, and Manav manages his family in Rs.16,000, and yet they're all happy!!
7.) For Archana's tuitions, Aai needs to break down a necklace to get money, they have a huge showdown over it. Manav on the other hand is handling his Sister's college education so easily, and in the past must have handled both Vandu's and Sachin's at the same time.
8.) There are many other issues, but right now can think only of these..!
I'm not pointing out the follies of the creatives, rather my point here is that Manav's family seems to be a contented lot despite their meagre earnings... they know they don't have much, but they don't sit moping about it. Archana's family on the other hand has 3 working and 1 pensioned member and yet, any little blow and they sit crying for money. This keeping in mind the fact that the standard of living of the families as shown in the serial is roughly the same... infact, the house Archana's family lives in is a govt. provided railway quarter (no rent) whereas Manav must be paying rent for his chawl house.
Or maybe, Manav's family members are better homemakers and make good use of their money, and Sulochana and her family do not.đ
Either way, it just proves that money does not always guarantee you a happy life... you need to find happiness in the simple things of life... or make good use of your money... like Manav and his family!đ
Sulochana... are you listenting???đ¤˘
PS: Sorry, this has turned out longer than I expected, I always end up writing a thesis!!đ
