Alright, now here is something to ponder about for all of you about Archana and Manav's family...
It amazes me how Archana's family is always crying about money, whereas in reality they are quite well off in comparison to Manav's family. In his family, he is the sole earner, and of course thinks about things like his sister's and Sachin's education, family budget etc. But that has never ever been shown as a point of worry in their house... they never cringe and cry about these things... he manages the house single handedly by working hard for the family, and they are a contented lot. Even when they have additional expenses, they overcome them without making an issue of them,
For example:
1.) The necklace issue
Soln- Manav quietly takes a loan from his boss and resolves to pay it back in two months by working overtime.
2.) Manav wants to give a gift to archana on her bidaai, but doesn't have money...
Soln- Instead of moping, he works overtime and gives her a special gift..
3.) After marriage, Manav takes Archana out for movies, pav bhaji etc....
Result: OK, Aai does taunt Archana but that was mainly cos she was pissed off with her..
4.) Satyanarayan puja
Soln: They organise the puja by themselves, instead of caterer, savita tells Archana to cook for 25 people- very practical, nothing wrong. Initially Savita grumbles cos of expenses, but does not do anything to stop the puja and organises it.
5.) Honeymoon expenses, taking a week off from work
Result: Kaka says please your wife if you want goddess lakshmi to come into your house, others too support him, savita is pissed off for obvious reasons..!
6.) When Manav takes Archana for their first date after their engagement, Aai and Tarun encourage Manav to use all his savings to make Archana happy, and Manav too happily agrees and takes Archana to a posh restaurant that only people like Satish could afford.
The only person in Manav's house who is an exception is Savita, but she is merely greedy, even she doesn't keep moping or worrying about managing the house... and she only fought for matters like jewellery for dowry reasons.. and more so to harass her in laws.
But in Archana's house the situation is completely different. I just cant remember how many financial problems they have faced since the beginning of the show... that too despite having three working and one pensioned member.
1.) Gift for ajit, Sulochana and Varsha have a huge fight over money matters and everybody cries.
2.) Archana's wedding: they worry about expenses and all ( despite having savings) whereas the groom (manav) looks and dresses up like a prince even though he's got no savings, same goes for the rest of the family.
3.) When Archana comes back after the big sathyanarayan puja fiasco, manjusha grumbles that one more person means ADDITIONAL EXPENSES, ( for god sake, how much does Archana eat???) and not even Vinod or aai point this thing to her that they earn enough to manage the house, all they say is, don't say this about archana.
4.) Archana doesn't want an expensive saree from her aai, but in Manav's house she never had to think about such expenses, in fact she never thought about money at all...there she happily accepted whatever he gifted her, without thinking how he gifted her so much...
let's see- ever since she went to his house, he has gifted her a saree, silver bangles, taken her out for pav bhaji and movies a number of times, not to forget the mahabaleshwar trip. The only time she felt bad was during the necklace issue.
5.) When Varshu leaves the house, everyone becomes budget conscious- hello! Wasn't it shown in the early episodes that the house ran only on Vinod's income and Varsha's income was used only for making jewellery for the three sisters? Then why cry for money now?
6.) Again in today's episode, when they learn that the pension isn't going to come they all immediately become worried. Vinod is well educated and in a good job, yet he can't run the house, and Manav manages his family in Rs.16,000, and yet they're all happy!!
7.) For Archana's tuitions, Aai needs to break down a necklace to get money, they have a huge showdown over it. Manav on the other hand is handling his Sister's college education so easily, and in the past must have handled both Vandu's and Sachin's at the same time.
8.) There are many other issues, but right now can think only of these..!
I'm not pointing out the follies of the creatives, rather my point here is that Manav's family seems to be a contented lot despite their meagre earnings... they know they don't have much, but they don't sit moping about it. Archana's family on the other hand has 3 working and 1 pensioned member and yet, any little blow and they sit crying for money. This keeping in mind the fact that the standard of living of the families as shown in the serial is roughly the same... infact, the house Archana's family lives in is a govt. provided railway quarter (no rent) whereas Manav must be paying rent for his chawl house.
Or maybe, Manav's family members are better homemakers and make good use of their money, and Sulochana and her family do not.šŸ‘
Either way, it just proves that money does not always guarantee you a happy life... you need to find happiness in the simple things of life... or make good use of your money... like Manav and his family!😃
Sulochana... are you listenting???🤢
PS: Sorry, this has turned out longer than I expected, I always end up writing a thesis!!šŸ˜†

u've said everything with the right words !! šŸ¤— .. I completely agree with u .. and as for the money, we always say that money doesn't bring the happiness, the richest ppl are not the happiest ones and the poorer ppl aren't the saddest one ..
One shd know how to use money, Sure we can't live without money, but that never brings happiness, As long as we have enough money to live, to eat, and to buy dresses, I don't see any problems .. I am sure the Karanjkars have enough to live a considerable life .. So what else do they want ? M sure his pension doesn't bring him 30000 rs/month .. I think he earns 10 000 .. that does make a difference but they still have 2 workers at home, Vinod being in a good position ..
As u've pointed out, the perfect example has to be the Deshmukh family, they know how to use money, and still they aren't reducing their expenses to save money ( ie : 1st ArMan's date b4 engagement, .... ) , they find happiness in the smallest thing, they know where their happiness lies .. We hardly saw them crying for money, they r always havin fun, jokin around .. the only time the family cried was for ArMan issues .. whereas We always see Archu's family crying and having tensions, and hardly saw them together having fun ..

@tasnime and uzee : Thanx a lot! I'm actually relieved the post made sense, I was worrying that it had become a tad too long and would lose its meaning!

Agree with u completely, "The richest are not the happiest and the poorest are not the saddest..." Archana was so much more happy in her in laws house, Sachin Vandu and even Savita's antics always made her smile, she had kaka for support and manav to love her, they did not burden her with unnecessary problems and budget tensions. In fact she never had to worry for money in that house!

ur post actually meant a lot :) ..
Exactly, Archu was always smiling, and enjoying herself at her in-law's place, everybody did support her even though sometimes Sav was a lil mean .. but still she didn't care abt it as she knew Manav was there to love her, to support her, that's all she wanted .. Vandu and Sachin also were there to cheer her up, to support her, Kaka also supported her against her mother in law ( ie : with the jewels , water problems .. ) .. they never made a big issue for money .. Sav asked jewels but not money itself, she asked jewels because of her prestige with her neighbours, that's all .. she just want to show them that she also has a lot of jewels as she isn't used of wearing them

I agree with both of your posts, you are correct! When Archana was with Manav she never worried about expenses, Manav's job supported his entire family. At Archana's home, Manju, Vinod and Varsha work (I know Varsha doesn't live there anymore but still) yet there are always complaints about money.

FIrstly, awesome post! I love it! šŸ‘

All of your points are correct and this was something that I had been pondering. At the Karanjkar house they are always crying over money tensions. Nobody seems happy in that home, ever. There is always some type of stress, and it is usually connected to finances. Whereas at the Deshmukh house they all seem content with what they have. Manav has been shown to have a constant tension on money matters, but he tries his hardest to not let it affect others as opposed to the Karanjkars who fight over these things in front of everyone including Punni.
All of this is really ironic in a sense, because Sulochana always put herself above Manav's family because they were richer. It doesn't seem like it anymore though, as Manav is running a house, paying for his sister's (and earlier brother's as well) education, and covering all the expenses that came with his marriage without complaining. In the Karanjkar house they all just cry over how little they have when they must make atleast twice as much as Manav.
Also, I guess that after being on a low income for such a long time, the Deshmukh family has become good at problem solving. They're also probably so used to having a tight financial budget that it has just become normal and they learn to look past that. Want to go on a special date? Use your savings, you'll build it back up later, life goes on. Want a gold necklace? Take out a loan and set a goal to pay it off with overtime. Can't afford a caterer? Cook the food yourself, its only one day anyways, its not like you have to cook for 25 people everyday.
Money can buy you lots of happiness, but its not always the happiness that you want.

Another great post!!! šŸ‘Savita is greedy but I think her along with the rest of the family have done pretty well with how they handle living on Manav's income. Sulochana and family should learn from Manav's family. She speaks poorly of Manav but once again it's shown how wrong she is of Manav!

@toothbrush13 and bollywoodcrazed: Now, here is my turn to applaud you! Agree with your points: Sulochana really needs to learn from Manav how to keep the family happy and satisfied, it is she who is actually responsible for the generation and counter transfer of tension in her family... she brags about how well she's brought up her children but she clearly has't taught them to be happy, the Karanjkar family never really seems satisfied with life. The Deshmukhs on the other hand take each day as it comes, and are always happy.

also i feel that the deshmukhs have support form one another. for example, right after Manav and Archana's wedding Vandu lend her support to manav and told him talk to archu, and even after this mess that they are going through...idk if i was in Vandu's position and my brother was insulted like this i would not like archu very much... and all the family is so kind to archu even after all that has passed. sachin was so polite and talked nicely...if i were in sachin's position i would have just said hi and leave nothing more...
