As we all know how this Queen of Soaps doesn't have a minute to spare, we got 5 minutes with her luckily I walk into her plush office she's on the phone signals for me to sit down. Hangs up quickly 'Shoot' she says then smiles spontaneously and we begin.
You are often accused that the twists in your shows are very monotonous/boring?
To keep shows interesting you have to make new twists and turns to keep people glued to the screen. Yes I agree we have used the same twists like in (Kyunki Mihir 'died' then came back, Kkusum Abhay 'died' and came back etc) in different shows but each character in each different show is shown to react differently and each story moves differently after the twists. And if they were boring people wouldn't be watching them (she smiles victoriously). Ok but I have to admit one of the really good twists I saw in another show and I wish I had thought of it before they had then I could have used it in mine too (bursts out laughing).
Which show was that?
Um should I say? Ok it was KumKum when Kumkum gets married to her devar Sumit. That was a good twist. It was nice the way they showed them falling in love. And the best thing is that instead of rejecting the story people accepted it and they love the jodi of Kumkum & Sumit. One of the top jodi's now on TV among my own.
Why not take up a different theme rather than the same old saas-bahu?
Because they always work. That is what everyone wants to see, no offense to anyone but shows like Kittu Sub Jaanti Hai Are really good shows but how long can you keep up the comedy? Can you do it for 4 or more years?
Is your concept that two people who love each other can't ever be together because that is what you display on all your shows?
Not at all infact I believe most people who love each other do get together. And as far as my shows are concerned well it keeps the viewers guessing and glued to the screen. Plus how long can I show two people in love married together with children there has to be some problems and stories so if you notice a pattern then you will see that all the top main couples from my shows are hardly (almost never) together. To name a few there is Angad- Kripa, Anurag-Prerna, Karan- Nandini, Kashish- Sujal, Kavyanjaliare any of these couples together?
Viewers watch in hope that one day they will get together and how they will if they do.
Which one of the Jodi's do you the producer, the launcher, the inventer of the shows like best? Who would know better than you
Very tricky question you can't ask me that is not fair, it's like choosing between Tulsi and Parvati. Ok I think Karan-Nandini, Kashish-Sujal and Anurag-Prerna have excellent chemistry. Personally they are my favourites. (Come on Ekta! Where are KavyAnjali???😡)
Her phone rings and she whispers 'Sorry but I have to go' which basically tells me I should leave now! I say thanks she nods absent mindedly still listening on the phone, wow what a woman we all want to be her now don't we.
