My beautiful islands of Fiji was under the warning of tsunami today at 11.30 am when i was in school and i have heard that Vanuatu, an island which is 3 hours away from Fiji was hit by tsunami. The warning was just given 30 mins before the predicted time.
Damn it was hard to see all the parents running for their children. My school is 30 km away from my house and i travel by bus. My parents were in another town which is 4 hours away from my home. It was also difficult to see my seniours crying their head off. The head boy still didnt run away from his responsibility even though he knew that our school was only 5 metres above sea level, hats off to you, Jen.
We then moved to a higher which was just behind our school, everyone panicked and it added on when somebody shouted out RUN. Though known as the most discipline school in the fiji islands, students calmed down quickly.
Everyones eyes was on the sea, waiting it to come or just dont come, people searched for their siblings, parents and friends. I remember calming this chinese girl down, shit it was so emotional, I couldnt let my tears run because if i let lose, this girl would break, so i tried to joke around.
Well I am glad now that the warning had been called off. Thank You God. Today I have known my friends, my seniors and the leaders of my school better and i just feel like saluting to them.
Thank you...
