Change of scene…… Sameer comes home drunk and late. He is apologetic in a sarcastic way to his father. But isn't he the one who's heart has been shattered? So why is he apologising? The mother just looks on. The father sternly tells him to go to bed. He tells his father that since it's been such a long eventful day he should go to bed and take rest. But the father frowns and says should he weep, get drunk and talk nonsense. Adit brought it onto himself. Sameer defends his friend and says he doesn't know a thing about Adit. What was the need to humiliate him and his family…he yells at his father. The mother is shocked and tells her son to behave himself. Sameer says he only wanted them to be a part of this great event that would give him joy but …..that was not to be.
Both Abhi and Antara go to the balcony where Adit is standing quietly. The little boy wants to have a word with his dad. Y'know…heart to heart……man to man. But Adit says maybe tomorrow. Vidya asks Abhi what he wants. He says he has to have his say now and not tomorrow. He says that when he gets married nobody will stop Antara from coming to the wedding. Nobody. Not that thaiji, not daadima and certainly not Sameer Uncle's father. (Attaboy ! tusi gr8 ho) Adit is overwhelmed at what he has stated, at his honesty and his loyalty. He hugs him and his little girl. So cute……..Adit you have the cutest children on earth and a good wife too……
In the morning, Abhi is sitting on the kitchen platform when the old hag comes and asks Vidya for a glass of water. She gives her a glass and a mug of milk to my little boy. The woman wants to know how long it has been since Adit had strayed and whether Vidya had faulted in any way. What an insolent woman! Adit who hears everything tells her to leave his family alone and thanks her for coming for the wedding. That was a pointer towards the door. Abhi smiles……but Vidya is hurt. Adit goes to Arti's room but the door is still locked. Both Adit and Vidya bang on it pleading that she comes out. The door opens and the great tragedienne emerges. She is still in yesterday's clothes and has cried the night through.
Adit asks if she is angry with him. She says no, she could never be. (My my…what a change). He tells her not to worry. He'd ask Sameer's father for forgiveness. He knows Sameer loves her and would never leave her in the lurch. Arti says she doesn't want him to get insulted anymore. And she says she's not alone, when her whole family is with her. (God……the about turn has been taken with such speed, it's left my head spinning) But it's a start anyway. Adit is still regretful and wants to correct his mistake. But Arti says it's neither his fault nor Antara's. However, she's has given a lot of pain to both of them. (So it was a night of introspection…….) She has understood the sacrifices her bro has made for her. She weeps and weeps. She says she's been unfeeling and selfish. The siblings cry and hug.
I am scared to say but maybe the idiom " der se aaye magar durust aye?(Better late than never) could be right here?
