DY patil dint agree to lend ground for RCB itseems ..so RCB is back to chinnaswamy after government's nod..atleast this is what i heard
RCB did explore alternative venues for IPL 2026Because of the tragic crowd crush outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (11 people killed in June 2025), that venue was initially not cleared for matches and RCB were indeed looking at alternatives, including DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium in Raipur.
It’s not that D Y Patil Stadium itself said “no” because of some refusal to help, the primary reported reason is that Mumbai Indians objected to RCB using DY Patil before other venues are prioritized, arguing that RCB should exhaust all other options first.
In other words, MI was reported to resist the proposal rather than D Y Patil as a venue owner, officially declining it in a definitive manner.
The Karnataka government has conditionally approved Chinnaswamy Stadium to host IPL matches again after safety upgrades and compliance checks.
So while the government has opened the door for Chinnaswamy to be used again, RCB hasn’t officially announced that they will play all or most home matches there yet. Of course, RCB was looking at DY Patil Stadium as a possible alternative venue for IPL 2026.
