Don't you guys find those dancers in the background (and many times in the foreground) crowding the singer extremely annoying. Imagine American Idol with dancers crowding the singers. The show would be laughed at. If II wants to be taken seriously, and not just a gimmick show they should let the singer/performer do it all alone. There is absolutely no need for the dancers. They take the focus away from the individual's performance. This is not a music video for crying out loud.

you are absolutely correct....these dancers sometimes overwhelm the performance of the contestants as well....

let the contestant perform and dance himself (if he wants to)....or they could have dancers in the last gala...but having dancers in every song is soooooo irritating

I think II is ONLY targeting the teenagers. They don't care about any other demographic. In the long run, this is going to come back and hurt the show. It will consistently lose viewers as they will see that the show lacks substance. You can go only so far with smoke and mirrors.

I'm not so sure. I have a feeling they are here to stay. the producer/director of the show needs to be replaced. They think they are making the show more glamorous, where the opposite is true.

A bigger concern is that these dancers are also distracting for the contestants, when they are singing

I think Indian Idol is losing its originality by becoming more and more orchestrated and less and less spontaeneous/authentic.. this is all FG effect. Since they were bringing in choreographers in FG, so Tarun Katial must have thought that he needs some choreography in II2 as well.. wrong idea..it detracts from the performances of the contestents and makes it look more like a staged show than a reality show..and it puts undue pressure on the contestants.. remember Abhijeet Sawant? He was never dancing all over the place, but had his own way of connecting with the audience..why doesn't SONY just allow the contestent's own personality to come out rather than crowding him/her with dancers around?
