  • From chocolate lover boy in Maine Pyaar Kiya to action hero-yet-intense-rocksolid-lover in Wanted, you do remain the industry's ultimate loverboy.
And you know what? Am very, very awkward in romance which is why the effort to enact it well, and hence maybe the natural look. Not many know but I find mushy romance scenes most tough. Even today I am very awkward doing them. I guess I treat them very seriously and in the process appear genuinely in love kinds!
Has being single added to it all?
No, not one bit. There are lots of stars who are married, some even married twice, thrice. Many have had wives multiple times and seen popularity still. People fall for the charm and character of a person, not their status. And then, ultimately, I would like to believe that I am where I am for the person that I am. You have to have stuff in you to be where you are. And we all must accept that people who hold a certain position, in Bollywood or beyond, do so because someone thought them worthy to be there.
Good hearted and bad tempered are both often related to you. You agree, don't you?

That I am good hearted is exaggerated. That I am bad tempered is hugely exaggerated. I believe in straightness and go for the right thing. I like to stand and own up to what is correct. I do not like it when something unfair happens. And that's when I speak up. I feel sad for those who call me ill-tempered.

What touches you most in life around?

My Being Human watch and T-shirt (part of his charity) are what are touching me the most right now! Well, I care for my charitable trust. But there's a big deal made out of my being large-hearted. Things are blown out of proportion. Don't we do something because it makes us feel good too? I'm sure it's not just me, but a lot many others who do things as much or more than what I do. A lot of them fight to make ends meet. And then, many do things for greed of money. All kinds make this world, no?

  • So, what irritates and angers you most?

Corruption, people lying, back biting, bitching, exaggerating, not understanding intentions.
  • Has connecting with those who like you and your fans got better with Dus ka Dum?

My connect with people has been there even before I began doing films. I genuinely like and respect people for the individual they are, in the sense that if someone is honest or forthright or sweet, I see and connect with them without extra effort on either side.
Your father recently said you fall in love with actresses and then expect them to give up acting for you. We want you to say if that's how you feel too.

Ah, my father is mindblowing! It's a fact that I would like someone not to act if she were my wife. Having said that, I also do not have a problem. I guess we should be well-tuned temperamentally, that'd be it.
  • You enjoy a harmonious bond with your family, it can be tough when you are the most successful name in a home with the rest not matching up in terms of popularity.

You know what? I have taken bits from all of them and become a good package (laughs). My thinking comes from my father, the love and caring part of me comes from my mother, the artist in me also comes from her, the good dancing comes from Helen aunty, I get my humour from Arbaaz, how to project it on-screen comes from Sohail, anger and intensity comes from Arbaaz again. Often, they see me on screen and say 'hey, yeh to humse maara hua hain'.

Do you believe good luck has kissed you long?

I do believe woh hota hain jo hona hota hain, I believe in destiny playing its part, yes, but then, I strongly feel we make our destiny too.
  • Is there a role you really want to play?

Let me be funny - it's chicken roll!
  • Tell us, who is the most beautiful actor in India today?

Hema Malini, Sanjay Dutt, Govinda, they are some of the best lookers.
  • Among the new lot, Salman?

Katrina, for her purity. Priyanka Chopra is very attractive and Ayesha Takia is good, although she's not been duly credited. Among men, I like Jackie Shroff for his style, Govinda for his acting ability, Shah Rukh for his intensity, Ajay for his casual approach, Aamir for his sincerity and dedication.
  • You're missing out your Main aurr Mrs Khanna co-star Kareena Kapoor. She's nowhere on the list?

Oh, how could I miss her..she's the spontaneous one. Says exactly what she believes in!

Salman's so cute in romance. He won't look at the girl directly. His romance is through his eyes when he's all shy.
