I feel that Savitha is a mean person....she cares more about money than her own son's happiness.....Out of greed,she has gone to the extent of askin' Archu's family for a necklace and she treats Archu like a servant!!

I think the cause for Savita's greediness is she has lived all her life in poverty never got what she wanted above all got married to a drunk, good for nothing husband, As far as her behaviour towards Archana, she is taking the revenge from Salochna as she knows that Salochna will surely suffer seeing her daughter in pain, oherwise she has no personal grudge with Archana . (this is what I think)

I agree with you with the resoning behind her becoming like this. However I think she would have acted like this with any girl - as all she wants is wealth and that someone will do her work. Add to this the fact that Sulochana has taken so many pangas with her - Archu'secoming apawn is not at all surprising. Now she wants Sachin to get married to this girl only because she is supposedly rich. But like you said, savitha life has been so hard that - this may be the best she can be as she doesn't know otherwise.
