Riding my way through the forest on day
I was stopped suddenly on my way............
The most marvellous of little joyful birds
In my ears softly sang the words
Call your friend and sing along
In these woods where you belong.
The river wound its way and flowed
The sound of the waterfall echoed
The water lilies were in full bloom
And the birds did their feathers groom.
Tis day and the time's still not right
I shall have to wait until midnight
For that's the time when she arrives
I'll wait till then with this surprise.
The moon shone bright and the stars twinkled
She came stepping softly as her anklets tinkled
"Oh," I said "at last you are here
Many Happy Returns of the Day, my dear"
I laid out a carpet on the ground
And arranged the food near a mound
Of soft green grass and the daisies
Hiding behind which were elves and fairies.
There was tea and scones and muffins too
But MRD members waited in queue
Apple cake, icecream, cherries and kiwi
Were made in the Grove for Sammy.
